    Question Need help with router config

    I am new to networks, read some similar threads but still not sure what to do.
    Here is my situation...
    Systems Running Win 7 - Winxp sp3

    Internet connection works fine when i connect modem directly to a single sys..
    But when i go through the router its not working..
    Also before i access the modem config page using 192.168.1.2 now its become 192.168.1.1 and i cannot access the Router config page at all.

    modem : Beetel 220BX
    Router : Netgear jwnr2000

    Outside line->Modem->Router->Desktop 1 (wired connection) (win 7)
    ->Desktop 2 (wired..) (win xp)
    ->Laptop (wireless) (win 7)

    i tried to reset the router, then the first time it restared the setup it said "ip conflict..." but later on no such messages.
    Dont know what else to say , will provide any info as u guys ask for it.
    I would really appreciate any help , thanks

    Confirm you can connect to Internet and surf.
    try Airtel line ==...Rj11==adsl splitter==Modem==rj11 to Beetel 220BX
    ]Set up in 'Always On" mode
    USERID/PW entered in wan page of modem.
    Enable DHCP

    confirm . .
    (1)
    Desktop 1 win 7
    connected OK.
    (2)
    connect Desktop2 winxp
    confirm connected OK
    (3)laptop win 7
    Connect Laptop in Lan mode .
    confirm connected OK.

    Step 2 :

    connect Netgear wnr2000 to desktop 2 with Rj45
    Can you access menu pages ?
    Change Lan IP to say 192.168.2.1(for router )
    (or default IP shown in label of router )
    try the wizard set up.

    Step 3 :
    In all systems TCP/IP properties
    Obtain IP address automatically.

    Step 4 :
    Reconnect modem+router and try. two desktops.( also laptop)
    All in LAN mode.

    Step 5.
    Later wifi settings in netgear.

    How are you connecting your modem to your router?

    It looks like this?

    If you are connecting your modem to the yellow WAN port, then you have two networks in your house (modem <---> router and router <----> your systems). If you are scratching your head at this one, that's fine: it requires a basic knowledge of TCP/IP to be able to do it. Plenty of primers on the net!

    It has been explained, probably several times, on this board how to do this. You cannot call everything 192.168.1.something: it will not work.

    If you connect your modem to one of the orange LAN ports, Then it should work just as a hub/switch. This is very simple to set up. I am currently using this method to connect Airtel -->Beetel modem-->D-Link wireless router-->wired and wirelss devices.

    Just... before connecting anything else up, connect your router to a PC, log in to it's admin pages and (assuming your modem is 192.169.1.1) change it's address to 192.168.1.2. Of course, you mustc then not use this for anything else. You will now have no IP conflicts, and you will be able to access the admin pages of both your modem and your router.
