Default Connect/Extend internet wireless over two modems

    Hello All,

I have one Beetel 450 TX1 wifi enabled modem with me provided by Airtel.
I want to connect to another device like XBox or PS3 to internet which is in another room/floor by extending my internet to this new room/floor.

So if i buy a new wifi enabled modem, can i achieve the above?

If so, which new model of modem do i need to buy?
I have an old Beetel 440 TX1 with me right now which is also wifi enabled.

Please let me step by step if this is possible.
    Thanks in advance.

First step: is your wifi working when you are nearby to it?

Second step: what is the range of your existing wifi modem? Are you sure you cannot use it from that other room?

    @ Nick,

For both of your questions, the answer is yes.
    Wifi is working perfectly fine.
In the destination room, i can use my laptop and connect to the wifi and browse internet.

That sounds good. I don't understand what it is that you can't do?

Is this a problem with Xbox, PS3, etc? Sorry I have no idea about those devices --- but if you know the wifi reaches, that is a good start.

    ya Nick,

I need to connect to some devices in the destination room wired, not wirelessly.
So my plan is to extend my internet from base router to the destination room wirelessly through two routers. and finally using wired connection, getting internet to the devices.

    one Beetel 450 TX1

    Beetel450BX has 4 lan ports.
you can use Rj45 to connect the other devices.
Special kind of WIFI routers ( with WDM) required for wi fi link
between two locations. ( one of them as usual will have 4 lan ports).

If there is a Phone extension in the other room,
( cheaper to use Rj11 telephone cable if needed )
    the present
adslmodem+4lanport+wifi router 450BXI itself can be used.

    Use lan1,2,3,4 for other devices.

    Use switch for more devices.

As reported laptop will work in wifi mode in room ( say in Ground floor also)
    2nd wifi router not needed.

Check link wa3002-g4 for settings if needed.

    Ah, ok.

I guess you must have ruled out actually running a network cable to that room?

It would only need one cable: you could put a cheap hub/switch (4- or 8-port, according to need) to connect your devices to it.

    Disadvantages:
physical practicality. Advantages: robust, simple, reliable, no wifi config worries, in fact, no additional network configuration at all.

You need to use Cisco-Linksys WGA54G Wireless-G Gaming Adapter

or you hack your modem and install Tomato or DD-WRT
