Default Why Such Disparities in my Net Speed

    Hi all

Hopefully someone from this forum will be able to resolve my issue. I have recently migrated my internet to 4Mbps with a 25 gb Download limit. After numerous unprofessional interactions with the Airtel Customer support who kept insisting that I have migrated to 4Mbps< it just doesnt feel so. They tested the Speed on three different sites and all the three are showing three different speeds. I have a feeling that my connection is realistically somewhere close to 2Mbps.

I have attached three snapshots taken from three different sites used to test the speed

    (change ** with tt)

Now my concern is am I being ripped? Why such a difference (although two of the sites were suggested by the airtel engineers and still such difference)

Secodnly what should be the avg download rate per sec, say if i am downloading it from a site like microsoft with a 4Mbps connectivity??

Any clarity on this is greatly appreciated

Every speed test server will show different results because there are too many factors that will affect the outcome not just your own connection speed so dont worry too much about the speed test.

The best way to check your speed is to run 3-4 downloads simultaniously from different servers and check the total throughput instead of downloading from microsoft alone. Try tucows, Microsoft and a couple more and see what the total speed is. Or you can also check using a few torrent downloads.
I would personally be happy with an adsl connection if I get anything more then 80% of the promised speed.
