Default Slow Video buffering - even in 2mbps wireless connection

    I have a 2mbps connection...
Since last 2-3 weeks video streaming has slowed down extremely...sites like megavideo, sometimes youtube, and some more entertainment sites have slowed down...buffering time has increased...these all sites used to buffer extremely fast..

Anyone else facing the same problem?..probably with 2mbps coz 2mbps is good enough to buffer fast for sites as said above..

clearing cookies n times a day....removing my temporary internet files...it doesnt work...video streaming is the reason I choose a 2mbps plan...u dont have to d/l videos to wait and watch them...at such high speeds u get gr8 buffering and no time to wait for the video to buffer...
I seriously think airtel is tampering/playing with the video streaming...
Airtel is getting useless day in day out...

I usually download videos of length of about 1 hr or so. In that case, buffering is not my choice.

mtnldelhi.in working fine on my Airtel connection, I am from Delhi.

Till 360p quality buffering is ok but as soon i switch to 480p i need to pause the video to let it buffer on 1mbps line.

first the fup cap...and now may be speed cap on video streaming...
being a 2mbps customer it is lot frustrating as compared to others having 1mbps or 756kbps etc etc...
i have called their engineer..let me see what all crap he does with the connection to try to solve..

    Default bandwidth throttling and shaping

    Hi All,

Recently got airtel connection. 2Mbps unlimited, 20GB FUP limit, 256kbps after that. Based on my experience 1.5 years back, it was very good. But now, I faced these issues.

    youtube -- buffering
    torrents -- 160 - 180 kbps
    file -- 200 - 220 kbps (form kernel,org, ubuntu,com, file haring sites, torrents)
    speed test SPEEDTEST,IN -- 800kbps

complained about it and tech guy asked to clear cookies blah. blah...

asked to download file from .microsoft.com
alas! -- 2 Mbps -- airtel guys says no problem from our side, the problem is with your system and the sites visited!

    repeated again ---

    youtube -- buffering
    torrents -- 160 - 180 kbps
    file -- 200 - 220 kbps (form kernel,org, ubuntu,com, file haring sites, torrents)
    speed test SPEEDTEST,IN -- 800kbps

    --- same old story

i believe airtel is bandwidth throttling and shaping... any idea ... (dont say get idea! :-)

    Bye

I am using Reliance Netconnect at 3.1Mbps and I can watch YouTube 480p Videos without any buffering but 720p still buffers. Get speed upgrade to 3Mbps or more Speed, then you can enjoy your Videos seamlessly and dont let this video buffering be a pain in the ass.

It is possible to solve the youtube buffering problem by switching to Airtel's DNS servers. Further info available at Before Changing DNS Servers to OpenDNS or Google DNS, Read this!
