Thumbs down Frequent disconnection of AirtelBroadband and the Airtel customer service is pathetic

    Hi All,

I am very frequently facing the problem of broadband disconnection. Everyday i will be calling to the Airtel customer care, they will be taking the complaint number, and some of Airtel executive will visit my place, he will be checking something and without resolving the problem, he will close the complaint. This is what happening since last month. I am totally frustrated with the Airtel service. Even, if i am calling to the customer care, in between they will disconnect the call. Really the service is very very very very worstttttttttt. They wont even give proper response. I am holding the connection from more than 2 yrs. Since begining itself, i am facing the problem. If i am requesting to disconnect the connection, they were not doing.

Please please please dont go for Airtel broadband service. Their service is pathetic.

What is the syptom (apart of course, from being unable to access the internet)?

Does the link light on the modem flash for a while, as if it is trying to establish a link?

If so, then you may have the same problem as I did. Initially it was diagnosed as dropping the link due to poor line condition, and remaking some connections certainly improved the line stats --- but the problem continued.

I then realised that the modem was not dropping the link, but rebooting. The way that I realised that was by pinging it while it was at its tricks: no reply. Sometimes it would do this continuously for several minutes.

On the second visit, initially Airtel sent round a couple of trainees (baffled by Linux ) who tried irrelevent stuff with updating firmware (but one only really knows its irrelevant when it fails to work!). Then the engineer who had been here before arrived, and I told him about my observations. "OK, it's the modem, then." He replaced it and it has been rock solid ever since.

Looks like your engineer is not as good as mine, but (if you haven't already) try insisting they replace the modem.

Since begining itself, i am facing the problem.
You should be a person of great patience to suffer like this for two years .
    Option 1 :
If i am requesting to disconnect the connection, they were not doing.
If you have the Telephone/Modem issued by Airtel, surrender them to the Nearest Airtel office, get a receipt, and submit an application for surrender. get some receipt in your copy.
Usually the acct is checked and you may be asked to pay the amount.outstanding.
    Option 2 :
Send an email to 123@airtel.in mention a date from which the Broadband connection is to be disconnected. ( preferably the billing cycle date say 26th).
    Option 3 :
Usually the service engineers come with a replacement modem
to avoid freq trips to users for servicing. My Airtel service engineer gave his cellphone number to contact him DIRECTLY, to avoid bad reports about his service .

Send another email, asking for replacement modem
    ( as suggested above )

    Option 4 :
As an Airtel user earlier, I found their service. exceptional.
Any way , let members of this forum try to help you .
    Please give modem/model/make/number.
If possible Screen shot of modem menu page showing
Data for SNR ATTN etc . ( Usually under statistics/ADSL menu)

If you don't have a wifi model the modem can be Beetel 220BXI or 110BXI .
Check my signature links for Wa3002_g4 ( ignore wifi ) and Beetel 220BX and Ut300r2U. All same type.

I was facing frequent disconnection problems with my Airtel BB connection too. However, changing the modulation from ADSL2+ to G.DMT rectified half of the issues presented by the connection.

I had exactly the same issue and ended up disconnecting. I didn't see this thread and started another suggesting the same to others just a few minutes back.

I thought somebody had typed this one for me

    Default Same Problem

I live in Noida and I am facing exactly the same problem. The internet works fine for some time then gets disconnected and after some time (2-5 minutes generally) gets reconnected. It is so frustrating and in spite of my repeated followups and numerous complaints the problem is still there. Every time I when I check the status of the complaint, the customer care personal tells me that the complaint has been closed by the backend team.
Its been almost four months and I guess the only option left for me is getting it disconnected.

Guys please suggest me an alternative which will give me peace of mind and at the same time will not burn a hole in my pocket

    @cool_techie_tvm

    Yep.
I am attaching a screen shot of my current DSL settings. I tried using G.DMT modulation but it didn't work out for me.
Can anyone suggest any alternative for Airtel broadband in Noida, I am considering Reliance combo 600 (unlimited @ 600 kbps for 649).

    send an email to 121@airtel.in
    Explain your problem.
say you will like to surrender the connection due to poor service.
    Create some correspondence .
    2. Check in modem/router ( Make/Model /number ????)
MANAGEMENT : uncheck tr_069 client box if enabled.

    3. To surrender the connection take the Telephone Instrument
( Modem + adsl splitter usually not taken back ) and surrender it at the nearest AIRTEL outlet.
Give an application and settle the account.
Get acknowledgement for Telephone + modem..
to disconnect.may take 2 or three days.
    Follow up by email.

    Feedback.
