    Default Beetel 220BX + NetGearWG614 V5

    Hey Guys,
I am facing little problem, Could you guys please help me out!!!
I am using Airtel Broadband with Beetel 220BX modem, and recently installed second hand NetgearWG614 V5 router on my Desktop, Laptop and mobile.
After installing router I facing random disconnection, for continuing either i have to wait for 5 minutes or reset. Sometime it works fine for whole day.
No modem or router page can be accessed during disconnection. Upgraded the router's firmware, tried bridge mode and all other setting available but all are having same problem.
Operating System is Vista and Xp
    Using Kaspersky Internet Security
Beetel Modem is In PPPoe mode, no changes made.
    Netgear Router
Manually entered the ip, gateway and dns.
    no airtel usename and passward.
Onething I am using 512kbps plan which gives me speed of 64k and usually i get aroung 56-58k on torrent but after disconnection occurs, I get speed of 64-68k on torrents, but no surfing, I get this on Browsers
firefox-The connection to the server was reset,
ie - Internet connected, but not working.
    Thanks

(a)Modem can be in "PPP/PPPoE mode with your Airtel

    (d) IN DSL page uncheck box ADSL2 +

    (e) In Management tr_069 client if enabled/disable.

    (f) Check in "access control " all boxes lan/wan selected.

    Para two:
    Netgear in wifi mode:

    (g) Select channel or 6 or 11.
Speed depends on signal strength also.

If possible post connection status page as jpg annexure here.

Thanks guys for quick reply, I was hoping for that
    @axel
thanks for the reply. Infact i am using static external and internal ip but it didn't help. Will try winsockfix. and will post the result.

    @essbebe
thanks to you too. I was hoping the quickest reply from you as i was following this forum from long time as guest user and you are the best and quickest one. As for query
I am using Windows XP mainly, A desktop which is wired to router and 'trouble maker'.
As far as DHCP on LAN page of modem is concerned, will enabling it make network "Double NAT / Double router" which is complex for small network such as mine because netgear is also serving as router, if i disable DHCP in Netgear, my network stop working and router hangs, have to reset router to start all over again.
I will try open DNS or google's DNS. Is it safe to use open DNS and what about speed ?
I unchecked ADSL2 + box in DSL page.
    "Management tr_069" client is disabled
"access control" all boxes are checked.
Selected channel is '11', Signal strength in laptop is full.
And here is Connection Status page of Router
As i am not allowed to post url in the forum yet, so i pm the link to you.

I hope, I am not annoying you.

    Regards
    Kabir

who is "LALA MADHORAM BHAGWAN DASS "
and why on earth airtel customer care fools gave me the said IP. I am using it from months. I am fool too as i never checked the said ip, i usually do.
but ESSBEBE thank you very much for bringing Lalaji's and Dass ji's name here in the forum.
    O Hail "ESSBEBE"!!!
like AXEL, i am also not allowed to rep you, but i will do it as soon as i am allowed to do it.

Onething, what about the router's lan setting, if i give static ip which is from modem dhcp series, to my wired desktop for port forwarding, internet stops working. What should be the router's Lan/dhcp setting if i enable the modem dhcp. Could you please post screen shots of your router's lan/dhcp settings.
Sorry for the oversized screenshot of my connection status.
As you can see the I gave static ip 192.168.1.11 and I am using 192.168.0.1 as default's router's ip. Please suggest router's ip setting accordingly.

Yup, Axel Lala ji sure did give his ip for charity to me via Airtel. Lucky me.
but please someone tell lala ji to provide Airtel some more bandwidth and reasonable priced hardware.
You are absolutely right Airtel will never ever deny any kind of charity whether its willing or not and most of the time its unwilling.
And Yes, I was bit fool but not for long, thanks to this forum.
You and Essbebe saved me from this uncalled charity.
Nobody wants to become "LALA MADHORAM BHAGWAN DASS" especially me, who was using his ip until now

It is possible a user , can type a wrong IP/DNS in his modem/router and I always check here.
IP2Location.com - Lookup IP address to Country, State, City, Netblock, Longitude and Latitude

Sometimes an user , because of excessive security/privacy concerns deliberately changes
    IP/DNS/MAC adddresses!!!
Even modem 192.168.1.1 has been shown as 192.168.X.X!!!

If you are able to connect and surf the web, with the DNS shown , please continue.
    Change can be considered later.

    Para two:
    Kindly copy/paste this data here.
( No editing of any IP address.....Except If you have been given a static IP by AIRTEL )
    Ipconfig /all
Please give as annexure *.Doc if all kinds of tunnel data is seen/.
or edit to show only LAN/WLAN .

    Essbebe !!!
Sorry for those flippant comments, By any means I had no plan to offend anybody by any mean, but it was funny and shocking as well.

    a) i am able to connect internet with open dns given by you. they are working fine. I managed to get more information about open dns and it's quiet impressive.

    b) if in my internal network i choose obtain ip automatically than i got no connectivity, picture's link in pm.

    c) ip manually entered, here is my ips ipconfig/all, (no editing)

    Windows IP Configuration
    Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : dreams
    Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
    Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown

Your modem's menu pages can be acccessed by typing
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
can be changed to 192.168.1.1 in LAN page.
if in my internal network i choose obtain ip automatically than i got no connectivity, picture's link in pm.
    http://i54.tinypic.com/w8tldk.jpg
    When you select :
Obtain Ip address automatically in Network settings
    In modem
    LAN menu page:
    Enable DHCP
    Give a range say 192.168.1.3 to 192.168..10
    or 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.120
    Feedback.
    Recheck ipconfig /all

Everything is working fine. thank you. but i have few questions to asked, so please.
    a) i generally uncheck upnp in both modem and router so what's your thought on that. is it ok.
    b) what is the point of enabling dhcp on both modem and router as one is sufficent. i still didn't get that point.

i know i am nagging you, but trying grasp as much as possible from you. fewer people have power of knowledge and also having no problem sharing it and you are one of them.

Short for Universal Plug and Play, a networking architecture that provides compatibility among networking equipment, software and peripherals of the 400+ vendors that are part of the Universal Plug and Play Forum.

UPnP works with wired or wireless networks and can be supported on any operating system. UPnP boasts device-driver independence and zero-configuration networking.
    ]

If in modem available can be enabled.

    (b)
Enable DHCP in Modem :.to systems computers etc connected to it. ( usally the wifi router ). If this unit has Lan1 to Lan4 will allot IP address to devices connected to these ports.
Router allots Ip address to computers/devices connected to it.

In a 3-in-One model only in one place you can enable it ( usually LAN page )?

I have adsl modem+ vonage router+ wif router.
will verify DHCP settings and update info here. .

Detailed explanation about UpNP and DHcp server, also seen in Netgear menu pages.

thank you once again. you are the man.
I know the concept of dhcp with one router. this time there were two routers, so i was bit confused. Now i know their working and getting along well with them.
Now thanks again for opening the world of OpenDNS to me. I heard of it before. but didn't knew how they work.
So out of curiosity, how come you are using Google's as Primary and OpenDNS's as secondary.
and what's your experience with "NAMEBENCH"
Also please mention your DHCP setting as you said you are using 3 routers.
I'll enable UPnP in my modem as recommeded.

    Namebench.
    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/i...d=3209446&pn=1
    ..........
When we did testing with Namebench, it reported that our ISP's DNS servers were faster than OpenDNS, Google Public DNS, and other DNS servers, and recommended that we stay with our ISP's servers, although it recommended that we change their order. We did that, and at times it does seem we get to pages more quickly.......
    Verdict
Should you use this program? If you're comfortable changing your DNS settings, and are the kind of person who likes to make incremental speed improvements, Namebench is worth the download. Otherwise, you'll find it of little use.

Yes. Not needed.( No idea if I had done so. will check later .done a year back )
If it works don't Repair !
In my set up multiple gateways) are involved.
    modem 192.168.1.1 /voipmodule 192.168.15.1 /wifirouter192.168.2.1

But to make sure you can check ipconfig /all
if you get 192.168.1.1 as DNS server usually it will be the ISP's.
( hope Obtain DNS automatically is selected !!!)
wait for further comments. from other members.
