I have 899 unlimited.. I'm sure I have downloaded more than the 8gb that is mentioned as per Fair Usage Policy.. but my speed is still hasn't reduced.. will airtel charge me extra even though mine is unlimited ??

No. Airtel cannot charge you extra if your plan is said to be "unlimited". They can cap the speed only.

for my frnd who has unlimited, they charged him extra! so im a bit worried!
they said that browsing is unlimited not downloading for him..

If you have crosses 8gb mark, your speed should be reduced to 256kbps as per FUP. If you are getting 512kbps still then its a bonus for you. Dont worry you wont be charged extra for this speed. As 899 plan clearly mentions Unlimited plan and only speed will be reduced.

How is "browsing" different from "downloading"?


AFAIK webpages,images etc are technically downloaded while browsing!

Can you tell me your plan name and where are you from ? I guess you are using plan that includes 8gb limit and extra charges after using your limited quota.

If you are using unlimited plan, that is after 8gb your speed will be reduced. then dont worry, you will not be billed for extra mb's. Airtel usually provide same speed after the limited quota of 8gb gets over depending on the customer usage pattern.

There is no difference between downloading and browsing as far as provider is concerned. For them, everything is downloading. Let them show where they have classified the two separately and quoted separate rates.

Even I thought the same but then asked because someone above had mentioned that his friend was overbilled because of "downloading" instead of "browsing".

No extra amount will be charged..enjoy the speed till it comes..

the FUP now is 10gb per month - not 8 gb
