Exclamation Diwali gift - FUP reached :)

I got the dreaded CC letter yesterday. Like I had last month, too. My billing cycle is 11th to 10th, so that means a couple of weeks in the wilderness.

Speaking of last month, which was relatively laid back btw, I decided to give
broadband speed on demand a go, and prices be damned . Consequently a monthly rackup of 1299 + taxes went a few notches higher to 2100 thereabouts. But this month was different. I hardly had any time to rake thru the offals of the interweb and I'm a bit rattled by this "gift" so to speak.

I didnt have bitmeter installed yet, so what follows might be pure conjecture :
    a. Is Airtel targeting my usage pattern to maximise billings from "strategically timed impulse purchase emails"(STIPEs for short, rather cute that was)?
    b. Does Diwali mean nothing but money to them ?

Okay, I think i know the answer to the last one ( its YES ). But regarding the second, think ill need more proof to take a call. Like anyone else on this forum with the same billing schedule as above, and with the same "FUP reached" email in the box over the last two days .

Anyway, i may not have the numbers to back my paranoia but airtel-at-adyar is going to receive a diwali gift of its own sooner than later. I mean, which heartless a$$jerk of an ISP sends a mail like that just before diwali? A moneygrubbing one of course.

i did not get the what u r asking

but one thing is sure speed on demand hits u hard when ever u use Speed on demand dont close there window so later u can turn off easily but airtel only charge for 1 hour even if u forgot to reactivate its nice ....

use net meter to keep track of u r usage .

It is understandable that Airtel wants you to use their speed on demand service. They enforce it among their subscribers by keeping the FUP limit low as possible - so that one will shell out additional amounts - and this in turn increases their revenues from this niche.

Same Thing here just received an sms that I had reached 80% of quota and speed will be reduced. Its second month in continuation. I also think Airtel is targeting their customers to shift to higher plans. Mine is 15gb and previously never reached my quota after so much of use normal torrent use, voip, youtube and surfing. But this month I am sure i dint downloaded much. 4 x 700mb files from torrent thats the only big downloads apart from that nothing big. Last month i downloaded so i knew i will cross the limit of 15gb. But this month is a surprise. Damn this Airtel. And no other option to choose from here in Delhi. Reliance and MTNL are cheaper but services are not good in Area.

Airtel is taking benefit of this scenario. I think need to shift to a new plan 1299 2mbps 30gb FUP.

Have you checked your actual web usage for the month via http://goo.gl/ejvCM ?
