Default Dumping airtel after 3 good years

Let me start with something good, airtel is the best... best in terms of speed, technology and overall quality. But unfortunately, best in doing evil and juicing money too. There were happy times before FUP. Uninterrupted internet, great latency and good overall service. My life is a living hell since FUP is introduced. Today, i finally had enough of it, so saying goodbye to airtel; hopefully not forever.

I am a strong downloader. Before you start jumping out of your seat and shout 'pirate! pirate', let me assure you, i can prove that airtel's new plans are totally absurd and unfair. I have this 999 plan with 10 gb limit for 2 months now. First month, i thought 256 kbps wouldnt be so bad and used up all my 10 gb within a weak. Rest of my month was like a slow motion, only the time is running at his own pace. So, this month i decided not to download anything at all. Beside some tids and bits, i didnt downloaded anything at all and still within 15 days, i get this message that crossed the limit of my tolerance level - "you have exceeded your download limit".

Put whatever reasoning you can, but this is completely illogical, what airtel is doing. I mean you just cant screw every single customer just because a small portion of them is "actually using" your services. I am seriously getting this impression that airtel is kinda getting the feeling of being the most powerful and practicing tyranny.

I am done with airtel and half heartedly moving to MTNL. What do you guys think about it.

If what you have said in the second half is right, you have every right to switch the services if you feel that you are not getting the service that you want. It is your money.

How would I react, if I board an auto-rickshaw/taxi, the vehicle takes me at good speed for 1/4th the distance and then drives at 10 kmph stating that other vehicles have the right to use the road at good speeds?

Good decision. Most of these days, I use my trusty old BSNL BB connection rather than Airtel BB. Will be ditching my Airtel BB connection shortly.

I was an Airtel user,( Chennai ) and had the best service ( Bsnl OK ).
Customer Retention Cell contacted me, when I said, I am dissatisfied with their service etc.
Had to discontinue 2 Mpbs speed daytime AND u/l 0900PM TO 0800AM
( 1 Mbps or 2 Mbps don't remember) and paid about Rs 499/= PM.
( long trip overseas; did not like to pay charges for 6 months to retain the line ).
Self care usage portal was updated after 24 hours to check usage.
Bill contains all the details of day to day data usage.
Never met any officer of Airtel in person to solve a complaint.
Avoided CC on phone, and mostly contacted by email.
Tech support was lightning fast ; immediate replacement of modem!!
or firmware update! or Technician's visit to my location.
Breakdown in telephone/Broadband connection was extremely RARE!
    2.
Now I don't know the situation for Airtel users
; Switched to BSNL in Nov 2010
and usage of 4 GB or 5 GB at 512Kbps is satisfactory.

If the speed was reduced, without reaching FUP, email to CC
    should have solved the issue.
By the way AIRTEL will never give you anything in writing!
( even in email replies are non committal !)
    All Phone calls only !!

All the tariff plans, specifically mention FUP limit, and users after selecting a Plan cannot grumble later !
PS: I am neither connected with Airtel or BSNL in any way! only a BB user !
