Default Airtel CC not working in Delhi?

I have been trying to reach a human being in Airtel CC in New Delhi for the last 24 hours by dialing 198. It is going through the various menu items and then when it transfers to the CC representative I am getting engaged tone.

    Anybody else has this problem?

It is possible to contact the customer care officials via non-airtel phones too. Use 1800-103-0121. You should be able to contact them.

Please read carefully what I have written.
The problem is not in connecting to the number. The problem is in the IVR system transferring the call to a human CC executive and the call getting disconnected.
This problem is there even with 121 and the various other 'non-airtel' contact numbers.

I have read what you had posted in the original post.

The normal way to contact the customer care is via our Airtel mobile / LL. Airtel has provided us with an alternate 1800 based number so that we can contact the same customer care via other non-airtel phones.

My understanding is - the calls gets routed via different gateways. So, I thought, maybe something is wrong with one gateway - trying the customer care from an alternate number (provided by airtel) may solve the issue. This is the reasoning behind my post.

Some years back, Vodafone had this habit of blocking subscribers who contacted the customer care frequently. They used the "please enter your mobile number after the beep" phase to filter the frequent callers from accessing the customer care. I hope you are understanding where I am getting to. What if Airtel has also done something sinister like that? The next best bet would be to contact the customer care officials from another Airtel LL. By all probabilities...it should work.

    Thanks for the info.

I have been given access to another unlisted number [which I will not disclose here ] to connect directly to a CC executive.

My problem has since been solved.
