Thread: Ip Routing Problem!? HIgh Pings on Online games

Hi there,,

Ive been having a probliem regarding my internet lately. The pings i get on online game servers(CS1.6) are really high. The same server which had a ping of 50 ms has gone upto 350 ms. I tried searching the cause for it and found out that the problem may be connected to my IP route. Did the tracert and got the following result:::

17 hops is too much, and i think my ISP has changed their setting at their end, causing very high ms from 5th to 6th hop.
my internet is 4mbit/sec, so dont think problem is related to speed.
-- did the speedtest.net test and got speeds of 4.5 mbps..

Anyone has any clue as to what the problem may be!??!

Intel core 2 duo 2.3 ghz, 4gb ram, windows vista 32bit

Out of curiosity, I tried to do a trace route to the IP address provided. I am with the same ISP and I am located in Trivandrum. Here are my results:

Some form of serious routing problem seems to exist. A good share of the hops are getting timed out while the average ping levels are much better.

Have you tried restarting the modem? Although it may sound trivial, while restarting, the modem may get connected to another default gateway server and this may improve your routing.

Also verify that the ADSL line state is showtime. If it is interleaved, then it may explain (partly) the huge pings.

Airtel broadband subscribers based on Kerala / Karnataka ... are you facing connectivity issues?

The connection has been acting weird since this evening.
