If anyone wishes to opt for plans such as these (old plans which came with a hidden fair usage policy of 100GB), please ask them to send the plan details via email.
The reason being this company has a nasty habit of promising something and delivering another thing! If you have their official email, there is at least a fighting chance (which you can use when they start messing up with your plan speed / fair usage policies).
i have already emailed them, and they replied saying, there is no FUP for this plan.
I guess every plan of Airtel has FUP, I had FUP 15GB, they upgraded my bw and reduced FUP to 10 GB![]()
Some things are better left untold.
All unlimited broadband plans from this company has a hidden fair usage policy. Yes, the customer care officials or the sales guy will promise no fair usage policy. They are simply trapping unsuspecting users by saying so. For them it is all about increasing the sales for their parent company.
This is one reason why I stopped responding in this thread. The thread starter has to face betrayal straight from the company. Only then he will believe that all unlimited plans from airtel have a fair usage policy.
They have introduced another trick...no fair usage policy for six months from the date of enrollment. Many are falling for this even today.
i thought I had a 2Mb unlimited (but with FUP) connection. I have never before exceeded my 15Gb "free," but, this month, some careless calculation and a desire for 4Gb of music took me a couple of Gb over --- and I discovered that my plan is not unlimited.
Whether this is my fault or Airtel playing games, I do not know. I'm prepared to believe I could have got it wrong, and I am not prepared to go down the path of endless mails and endless on-hold calls unless, or until, I'm ready to simply close the account ... and I'm not. Their plans still suit me better than BSNL's.
Expensive mistake, though: over Rs1,000![]()
Are you using 2499 Plan ?
Hello friends,
I am using Airtel 3G data card which offers high-speed wireless connectivity, with two different set of model with speed up to 7.2 mbps connect your devices (laptop, pc) and browse internet at high speed easily at attractive price .
I was using 1199 plan.
I now emailed and asked them to upgrade to new 4Mb 30-Gb-free plan, or, of not possible, then 2Mb 30-GB-free plan.
They confirmed that they would upgrade to 2Mb 30Gb-free plan. Yesterday I saw engineer who visited re cabling fault. He confirmed 4Mb/sec is available to me, so I have emailed again for 4Mb/sec plan, quoting his name.
New Broadband Plans for Chennai, include
Max 30Gb --- 2Mb/sec @ 1299
Turbo 30Gb --- 4Mb/sec @ 1399
These are clearly FUP plans: unlimited, but speed reduced to 256K at the 30Gb point. Airtel's e-mail spells out the plan details very clearly: this time I will print out and keep
If you want to download movies, 30Mb may be not enough. It will be enough for me for next few years!
BSNL are offering 16Mb/sec, but it is incredibly expensive. Targeting business, of course.
I wanted unlimited 2 mbps too. I called the cutomer care at 2-3 different times and I was told no such plans exist. 2 mbps or 4 mbps speed is valid only upto a certain extent of download/upload.
Yep.
That's all you'll get, I'm afraid, unless you are willing to lay out really large amounts of money that would be feasible only for a substantial company.
Back in my London days, I had 512Kb/sec connection (best available then) and it was really and truly unlimited. This was from about 2003 to 2005. When I look at the site of the company that I dealt with then, there are only limited or FUP plans now.
BTW ... they just confirmed my plan will be 4Mb/sec from January. Although I still have a cable problem which the local chief engineer told me is my house cabling, so I have to re-run that.
