Default Almost no internet access once you pass FUP?

Okay.. I somehow passed my FUP limit 4 days after my billing period started, even though I barely used the internet except for a small 14mb pdf download. Since then my internet has been horrible~

*Internet disconnects randomly, sometimes just after a few seconds of my modem being on.
*Sometimes (or most of the time) certain features will be working fine while others won't work at all (eg. I can go to a youtube video page and everything will load properly, but the video itself won't start.
*I get the "You have used 100% of your broadband FUP" thing every time my internet manages to connect, and the page just won't go away until you stare at the stupid thing for bloody ages.
*Wasn't the FUP supposed to make you speed half? Well, my speed was cut down to 20% of what it was before FUP.

And all of that stuff happened last month as well (when I passed my FUP limit). I thought it was my modem so I actually ordered a rs.4000 modem-router only to find out that it was all Airtel, had nothing to do with my modem or router.

IMO they've done this on purpose because they don't want me to use any more of their precious bandwidth.

I can't contact them because every time I call they hang up the second they know I have a problem. I've tried several times but it seems there isn't even one person willing to help.

Is this the norm once you pass FUP? What do you guys think I should do?

Register your broadband connection over at http://goo.gl/ejvCM It will enable you to keep a track of the usage (according to airtel's billing server).

The fair usage policy being enforced in your account has absolutely no effect on the stability and reliability of the connection. The default speed is 256kbps and Airtel is planning to upgrade the FUP speeds to 512kbps in the distant future.

Regarding the nagging message which you see every time the connection is established...there is no escaping from it. The only way to circumvent it is to (a) use an IP blocking software such as peerblock or (b) close the browser window the first time the message appears and wait for 20 seconds before resuming the session.

Verify whether you are on the original plan which was promised to you. Airtel has this uncanny habit of messing up the plan profile. You can find the fair usage policy associated with your account over at http://goo.gl/EYCdO

I wish. I'm 100% sure all my problems start only when I pass the FUP limit. It's not the first time this has happened, it also took place last month, and also in February.

I'd actually be pretty happy if all FUP did was simply reduce my speed, but it's not like that.
