Default Lan not working where as Wifi works

I have a Airtel Broadband connection with Beetel 45 BXI ADSL2 + Router. Wifi works fine with both my Laptop ( XP and Windows 7). Where as when i connect using lan the connection does not come up at all. It always says identifying network when i use automatically obtain ip address. Even when i use static ip address i am unable to ping my default gateway. Even in my desktop lan connectivity is not working. I used both straight cable ( this is the correct one to be used) as well as cross cable.

Whereas when i use wired connection at office it works fine in my windows 7 laptop.

Please help. Are there any setting that need to be done on the modem to make the lan connectivity working.

If wifi mode router is working WAN settings are Ok.
You can check the diagnostics page and confirm.
SEE wa33002-G4 quick guide ( recheck buttons in WAN page)
    Check in Network/ LAN/Properties
On top ethernet card box select configure
    enabled.? Advanced check driver etc.
Click the LAN Icon in Taskbar try diagnose what is the error message. ( windows 7 system )

Still no connection in lan mode
post ipconfig /all data. as attachment .*.doc.
    Mention OS used.

Could it because of the fact that the modem is 10 mbps and all the lan cards in my system have 1 gps capability. do we need to hard code the system lan card to 10 mbps full or half duplex. Anyway i will carry out all the test and attach tem to the thread.

If you had posted ipconfig /all data,
I would have got details of the LAN ethernet card used.
and any error in settings in your system for lan mode.

Appears you are behind a firewall. unable to access. not needed now.
In Office you connect in VPN mode on a different BB connection
automatically. with a different ID PW.
Check in Network settings the name allotted.
Confirm you use the same Modem/router Beetel450BXI.

    2.
Now in your house you have to use your modem with Airtel allotted Id & PW, (and confirmed connected In WIFI mode. )
Check the SSID name appearing in Router is same what appears in your laptop.Do you use any security key ?
In modem menu ( In LAN Mode) Click Diagnostics menu.
    give details here.
    3.
    Check settings similar model

I am not aware of any firewall.

The SSID in Laptop is same as i am using in Router.

Network Authentication is Open and I am using WEP Encryption with a encryption of 64 bit.

These settings are for wireless right would it cause problem for Lan connectivity. My Wireless connection is working fine where as only Lan is not working at home.

Yes i have a Airtel connection (4 mbps ,unlimited plan )at home for my personal use. From home i connect to my office network using VPN.

Not sure if the problem was there before for Lan as i always use wireless. Recently i bought a desktop for my son and in that also i am not able to connect . That is when i checked my laptop as well it does not work when using lan. My both laptop (office and personal) as well as the desktop does not work when using lan. I have ordered for a wireless adapter for desktop.

Appreciate you help. Not sure what could be wrong. Do you think changing modem will help.

If i disable wireless then i will have no means to connect to the modem as Lan connections are not at all working. Then i will completely loose connectivity.

Just to confirm that my lan card does not have any problems. I went to my neighbor's house whose has a BSNL connection. There i have no problems at all. I am posting from his house there the lan connection is working. Some problem with my Airtel Modem connection only.

If i disable wireless then i will have no means to connect to the modem as Lan connections are not at all working. Then i will completely loose connectivity.

I use Cisco VPN Client to connect to my office network.
