Hi All,
After being an Airtel Broadband subscriber for over 5 years I have decided to terminate their services now. For me the tip over point was their latest policy of not replacing faulty modems or telephone handsets for connections that are older than a year.
Over the years I have been reading of a number of accounts of Airtel harassing consumers who are trying to terminate their BB connections, so want to know what exact process I need to follow so that I don't fall into such a trap.
I have read here that surrendering the instruments (telephone handset, modem, adapter & splitter) at the nearest Airtel outlet is one of the better ways. I have some doubts related to this:
- Do I need to raise a request in Customer Care before going to the Airtel outlet?
- What all instruments do I need to surrender? This is especially relevant now since as per their new policy they are not replacing instruments (modems & handsets) and I have to get them repaired on my own from the retailer or something. So in such a case hasn't Airtel ceased to be the owner of such instruments?
- What sort of receipt should I be asking from them? (I am intending to clear all dues on the spot)
- How can I be sure that my account has been disconnected/terminated?
- What sort of tricks can I be expecting from the people at the Airtel outlet to stop me from terminating the connection?
- Anything else I need to do?
I have read about the Airtel retention cell people also. Determined to give them an earful!
Looking forward to some advice from you guys.
Thanks!
