Thread: Surrendering Airtel Broadband #airtelbroadbandsucks

Hey guys. Have been a user of Airtel Broadband for the last 3 years. Am planning to disconnect from it now because of all the problems with billing I have faced in the last three months. Don't plan on wasting time on that. Customer care is crap.

Would like to know what is the procedure for surrendering / terminating the connection. I did not buy any modem / telephone from airtel. They only provided DSL connection and splitter. Modem and phone were provided by me and my modem was reconfigured to make Airtel usable.

Also what are other plans available in other ISPs? I am however pleased with the 24 hours no problem connectivity of Airtel. Till date there has not been a single day where I have had a problem with internet. I am am max 1299 30gb plans and am looking for plans from other ISPs in similar range. No BSNL please. Any suggestions welcome

If you mention which city you live and locality ,may be other forum members can share their experience and offer better ISP suggestion!

I am from Chennai. Locality would be T.Nagar.

TRY WI5 ( zylog)Working fine in Adyar (Chennai) area. ( So far no
complaints in forum ) Can connect other laptops with
stand alone wifi router. ( availing as standby only. self on BSNL )
Wait for a day or two to get BSNL official circular on speed increases/FUP limit etc.

Unfortunately for me, my road does not come under coverage of both the wired and wireless solutions provided by Wi5. I am planning to stay away from BSNL thanks to a pathetic experience I had from 2005-08. Tata Indicom is no good in my area as well as my neighbor is suffering with constant connection problems with major downtimes. I am leaning towards Reliance Broadband but am unsure on a couple of things.

Read these things about Reliance Wireline Broadband somewhere,

1) Twitter not accessible after 11 A.M. An issue that has persisted for long and has been neglected by Reliance
2) File sharing sites blocked once in a while
3) Reliability factor still remains to be a question. Will need some Reliance users to comment on this. How often do you experience downtimes?

Looking for some answers.
