Default Do not go for Air Tel 2Mbps!

"I am a broadband user ever since Broadband was introduced in India by Dishnet and their service was really good. After Tata Indicom took over the back end support became very poor and I switched to Air Tel Broadband and was having 256Kbps unlimited plan for Rs. 900/- per month about three years back. Their technical back end support was really good. I had one or two billing problem but later they rectified.
When they introduced 2Mbps 2GB Limited plan as a trial I changed the plan. They could not achieve not even 400KBps and they made lot of trial through my computer and managed to get 1.5Mbps after one week. But the transfer rate was only 20kbps which I normally get through 256Kbps. The whole billing period was trial by Air Tel so called Engineers and they downloaded in my account and completed my quota of 2GB I was shocked when they bill came...It is around Rs.5300/-. The technical department accept their fault and assured me that they will take the matter with Billing department. But it is more than 10 day they have responded for my request. One of the thick skinned billing officers said that the bill cannot be adjusted and the customer has to pay for the trial that Air Tel made. Does it not look silly. I have never come across such a stupid officer. I am 63 years old and held high executive positions like Vice President/Director in many multi National companies both in India and abroad. Some the officers like this spoil the good image of Airtel. Now I have decided to go for alternate Internet service providers and will not be paying the bill till the problem is sorted out.
I request Airtel customers, please do not go for 2Mbps plan with Airtel. My neighbour is having same 2Mbps plan with BSNL and he is getting average transfer rate of 300kbps.
I have so many complaint numbers...the last complaint No. is 19342995 dated 6th November'07.

I agree with you and if you need 2mbps than go for BSNL and if you need unlimited 256kbps then go for Airtel.
Customer care of BSNL is horrible, don't expect there engineer before a week of your complaint.

Talking 'Do not go for Air Tel 2Mbps!'

Yes....unfortunately none other than Airtel we have any reliable Broadband providers. I had worst experience with Tata Indicom. Unfortunately Airtel mail server is giving lot of problem. I lost more than 100 mails when their server was down for more than one week and they didn't have stand-by server. Never have an account xxxxxxx@airtelbroadband.com I sent a mass mail to all my friends and relatives not to send to my airtel account. I am using gmail and hotmail.

This is shocking indeed man. How can the customer pay the bills that was wrongly or intentionally done by the officers. Better go for a complaint against them. And to hear about the mail account i never use theirs. I am always safe with my gmail and yahoo accounts. I do not beleive others in this.

I am trying my best to explain the billing problem to the higher officials of Airtel. Unfortunately they are not well qualified/competent to solve the problem....Chennai street shops have better uneducated men who can easily solve the problem!!! Air tel officers are thick skinned, inefficient *****

Exactly , I mean , common , the higher the bandwidth , the more you would want to download , U are talking about 2 Mbps with 2 GB caps , hell I do 3 GB / day on an unlimited plan , you want a tension free ISP use Airtel , you want tension free bills , stick with unlimited plans and wait for Airtel to come up with good offers like the plan that I am on was available just for 2 months Aug & Sept 2008 after that Airtel withdrew it , luckily I am still on it :P

    Home 888 Unlimited ( 8th Aug 2008 )
    256 Kbps Unlimited ( Between 6:30 am - 10:30 pm )
    512 Kbps Unlimited ( Between 10:30pm - 6:30am )
