    Default elucidate me!

I am using GPRS service through Airtel with my Nokia N95. I am getting 460kbps speed through GPRS. I am wondering whether it is viable or not? Is there any possiblity for me to upgrade to HSPA or EDGE.

Or else is ther any other alternate to obtain internet without land line or dedicated mobile? As i am new to this country i want to be flexible in moving and access internet wherever i repose! Greatly appreciated if someone could enlighten things!!!

    Cheers,
    -:)

Using a Coding Scheme-4 it is possible to achieve a user speed of 20.0 kbit/s per time slot. However, using this scheme the cell coverage is 25% of normal. Coding Scheme-1 can achieve a user speed of only 8.0 kbit/s per time slot, but has 98% of normal coverage. Newer network equipment can adapt the transfer speed automatically depending on the mobile location.

So according to this - the max transfer rates one can achieve is about 20 Kbps. The feedback I had received a while back was that the transfer rates are around the same as a copper cable / dialup connection.

Do download some speed testers to actually check the transfer rates. A while back on my airtel broadband- i had the same showing transfer rates of 150 Mbps.
