Airtel Customer Care people weren't helpfull as the representative I talked had no idea about it and was referring DSL password to the modem password . So anya folks here who can let me know the procedure to change the DSL password?

    There is no such thing as dsl password. Do you mean the password you use to log into your modem?

    He probably means the password that the modem uses to dial the connection. If that is what you mean then it is of no use as your login details can only be used from your land line. If you try to use the user name and password with another land line it just wont work. Airtel and every other ISP uses generic user names like some use account number some just the phone number and some would require you to leave the password field empty.

    Any number of calls to Airtel broadband customer service would meet with similar fate as those guys havent been trained to reply to such a query or request as there is no good reason to change that password. You could write it up on a wall and still it is of no use to anyone.

    @TheWiredGoon

    It is not clear which password you are after. To make things a bit clear, when and how do you use this password that you want changed?

    @OneManArmy Thanks.

    @Transformer I mean the password associated with @airtelbroadband.in which you put up in the modem setup configuration.

    You cannot change that yourself and Airtel guys probably wont change it for you either because your password is of no use to anyone even if it has been compromised.

    Do you fear that some one else may be using your account from another location?

    Ditto.

    Other people cannot use your user name and password at a different location and use up your data limit if that is whats on your mind. This is the reason that password if there is any is of no use to anyone. Some ISPs do not even require you to enter a password.

    The only way some one can steal your bandwidth on an Airtel ADSL connection is by hooking on to the cable that goes from the box to your place and they would also need your user name and password. If there is a possibility that some one might be doing this then there is a cause of concern else dont waste your time on it.

    There is a dsl username & password – you need it to set up your dsl modem. Generally saved in the modem, so you don’t use or know it every day. There is some default ones linking your landline number. Not sure if they leave the password blank nowadays. They also advise you not to change it.
    In case you need to change it or need it for installing a new modem, you need to contact Airtel call center. Also guess there is a way using Airtel’s NetXpert tool – you can check more details on Airtel site http://www.airtel.in/broadband-and-f...your-broadband

    I had changed it for my line when it got installed. And necessarily use it when I change the modem.
    Hope this helps

    There is no way that you could change your password or your username. The default user id is "admin" and the password is either "admin" or "password". These are the standard values and they could not be changed at any cost.

    I think, you can easily change your Airtel DSL password by login in the browser at 192.168.1.1 with your user name and password. Follow the link below to successfully change your password.
