What was the reason for resetting to factory settings in the first place? Was there a problem that you were trying to resolve?

Yes there was a problem wifh wireless signal that wasn't receiving, but the ADSL was working fine. So i used the Factory reset and the signal was excellent, but the ADSL is not working.

That sounds like time to buy a new modem. These things run for decades but some of them can give up in 4-5 years too. There are no moving parts but the flash memory sectors tend to go bad after a while.

Ive ordered already one on snapdeal, but does that meant we cannot troubleshoot? Mine ADSL modem is working from more than 6 years.

Yes cardiac surgery can be performed on a 95 year old person and some precious days can be added to the life but is the effort/cost (in time) worth it? I would personally not spend time on a very old piece of hardware if getting a new one does not cost too much. Had this been a case of lower speeds or other performance issues then we could try resolving it.

It all went suddenly on one day, but with cable was working fine. Once I used factory reset from heir it is not working even with cable.
Airtel company too told router problem, but i want to see what was exact problem and threw it in dustbin.

Human life is 100 years, but electronic life doesn't had dead line.

The firm ware that makes the router or modems functional is saved in a chip and if one of the sectors in that chip goes bad with time then it is not something that can be repaired or shall we say cannot be repaired at a reasonable price. I am sure it can be repaired somehow but if the cost of repairs are higher then the cost of buying a new modem/router then it defeats the purpose.

Ok, the memory chip might dead and it is hard to remove chips from these modems as they fixed onboard.

The problem does not end there unfortunately. You have to flash the chip with the original or other matching firmware to get your hardware to work. Its a very difficult way to do things. This is why most cheaper pieces of hardware are just thrown away instead of trying to repair.

I think most of the times problems like this are best left to the service personnel rather than trying to solve on our own. It's good that this issue was solved by yourself but next time something like this happens, it's best to call the customer care.
