Default Airtel offers 384kpbs unlimited for 999/-

I changed my Airtel broadband plan from 256kpbs unlimited to 384kbps unlimited at the same price 999/- last week. It seems this is a new change in their portfolio.

I noticed another thing, most of the combo broadband plans offer std rates at Rs. 2/- per minute. Only 999/- unlimited (or a very few more) have got std rates at Re. 0.95 per minute. Seems India One PR is over now.

Yes, it is true that plan is existent at the moment and is currently offered by Airtel. But i guess it is Rs. 750 per month unlimited, not Rs. 740. But its also not available everywhere but only in select cities, check it out with their site or customer care.

It is not 256 kbps for 750 inr ... it is 256 for 999 inr per month. This is the plan Airtel is offering right now and this is the one which i am presently using.

Actually if you take BSNL's UL900 Plus connection you get a waiver on fixed line phone rental (Rs. 180 pm). So it kind of works out to Rs. 720 pm.

And also to be noted that many helpdesk numbers in India for various services (most of the 1-800 numbers) are available as a local call on MTNL/BSNL lines only - Airtel is getting there but not yet.

All the Airtel combo plans come with no rental for phone usage. So when we talk about 384kbps unlimited broadband for 999/-, it includes phone rental. So you need not deduct 180/- from BSNL's UL900+ plan for comparison.

I could not find your 384 kbps plan over the Airtel site - that is not saying that I am doubting your word - but perhaps this plan is no more offered.

The Combo plans that you talked about is a limited plan - it has a usage limit of 6 GB and has Rs.200 of free talk time - so the free talk time sort of evens out the fixed line rental.

The unlimited 999 plan has no free talk time and it does not mention anywhere that fixed line rental is waived off. If the rental is indeed waived off, Airtel should state that over the wesite.

Well as he has said in chandigarh. Then i think he is right as my friend lives in chandigarh and he has the same plan and yes there are no free calls but you can get some cheap calls if you buy some package which costs 50 rupees.

Yeah! Neighter is 256kbps UL for 750/- (and I am referring to Airtel Karnataka Tariffs). This happened when I called up Airtel and asked them which of their plans offers std at 0.95 per min with unlimited Internet. So there is one 256kbps UL @ 750/- and other for 384kbps UL @ 999/-. At least the one I am using, the latter, has no telephone rentals but comes with no free calls.

If you go by what they mention on their websites and consider that as full and final then you will feel cheated. These telecom companies come with lots and lots of options for end users and customize it based on many parameters including locality i.e. not just states and cities but within apartments also and many times it will depend on what is the competition in that area.

For example, both Airtel and Tata Indicom offer free within apartment intercom in our apartment complex. And in the neighbouring apartment we have bsnl doing the same. Now if I know correctly, this is something they do only for apartments and offices, and independent houses may not get this facility. As an example of city variations, Airtel offers 8Mbps only in Bangalore (in Karnataka, when I last checked).

I would like to make a point here that going forward the telephone will become trivial, and we will be paying for the package that would include voice calls, broadband bandwidth, internet TV, games etc etc. When that will happen we don't know but comparing plans based on telephone rentals and effective prices etc will become trivial.

Lightbulb BSNL Rs 750 unlimited plan at 256kbps

you can get UL @ 256kbps anywhere for Rs 750 if you get the Rs 900 plan from BSNL and subscribe for the whole year for Rs 9000.

so you end up paying Rs 750/month.
