Angry Airtel USB Modem

I am frustrated and dumped customer of Airtel now, for nearly seven years i have been using Airtel's product. Recently i opted for airtel Broadband connection, we have airtel connection over our locality but found no hub at my place, then i pefered to buy a USB MODEM as the sells agent told me it will give 80-100kbps, i paid flat Rs5000/- for the same and opted unlimited plan of Rs999/- But at the end i get only speed upto 49kbps/ I called up many times to the technical support, but they are denying the speed. I don't want the USB MODEM anymore and they are not refunding..... am totally dissapointed and heartbroken. That much speed i can get from my mobile gprs activated, what the use of spend so much money on the modem???? Airtel and other ISP who sells wireless Modem are fooling us..... I learned a lesson now...
IF you think to get a wireless connection then simply activate your cell with gprs and go on with computer thats is better.... Don't go for beautiful advertisement, they are 80% lie.

Exclamation

And while talking with Customer support on 7070 from Airtel sim, they don't know much about the connections and modem. Even they told me the modem don't support Vista (then how come they sell the USB MODEM), But I loaded it myself and using on my laptop running Vista, phew poor chap.

ANYWAY I am the one who unknowly bought it so now am undergoing distress... anyhow anybody knows how to enhance the speed???

How is Spectranet's Internet connection???

Well this is the speed you would get from your USB modem and more over speed also depends from place to place according to there connection availability. If you are near to there main place then you should get good speed and as far as you go there can be a difference in the speed.

My friend have a USB modem and he also faced the similar problem and this problem is due to low signal availability. if you have strong signal available then you would have good download/surfing/upload speed and if youu dont have it then you would not have it.

Thumbs up 49kbps is not good speed

49kbps is kilo bits

and if its 49KBps kilo Bytes then its good

I took a USB modem connection from Tata Indicom I was under the impression that it is a broadband connection.
However I was misinformed by the guy who came to sell the connection.
I took a 5gb connection as I was going to use it full time to connect to my office VPN.
I was just given a form to sign and the guy refused to give me a bill for the modem saying that 'this is how we do modem sales' I refused and spoke to his manager and then he relented and gave me a recipt. Apart from this he never told me anything else.

After about 25 days my connection went dead I called up the customer service they told me that the outgoing is barred(never understood who cares about outgoing calls in a USB modem)as my bill is unpaid. I told them that I have not recived any bill and it is not even one month since I have got the connection. They told that I have crossed my credit limit.
the 5gb connection costs Rs.1500 and my credit limit is set at 1600 wow!! and they disconnected without any phone call or any kind of communication. I gave them my piece of mind. Finally they asked me to pay up the money and said that connection will be restored in 2 hours after payment. Surprise after payment what they say. It will take 3 days to restore the connection. Finally after 7-8 calls and 2 hours on the phone they took 4 hours to restore the conneciton.
I was on an important data transfer process and It got delayed by a day much to my embrassment.
I had told my Boss in US that I will be able to work comfortably from home in India for a couple of months and attend to family matters simultaneously. Now with BSNL broadband connection working for only 2 days and no other service provider in my area Im at the mercy of TATA Indicom connection and my misterious credit limit.

Why dont you guys try connecting via an ethernet modem , remove the USB bit out of the equation , I am a very happy customer of Airtel broadband , their service is top notch , its a pity that you had a horrible experience with them
