Pages take ages to load and it frequently disconnects. The best thing to go for is a reliance data card, ask your travel agent if he can arrange one for you on rent as many of them do that.

Rep Power: 13 | In that case if your phone is EDGE enabled then it will be a bit faster to load pages. In India foreigners cannot get a new mobile phone connection by law.. You have to have a permanent address here in India to get a new connection so if you are relying on that please make prior arrangements. |

Rep Power: 13 | Alright.. my bad.. I just checked with a dealer and he said its changed now and one can get a prepaid connection with an identity proof. The also sell them at the Delhi airport when you exit customs.. there is a stall on the left hand site when you come out of customs.. |

Rep Power: 3 | It does not take that much long as you are expecting. Just get a new connection ( i would suggest Airtel) and then ask the to activate GPRS right away and they would do it. Once it is done you are good to go with the GPRS connection. |
