VOIP is a too fussy thing to use. You can make international calls using Reliance Global Call the virtual calling service . it is easy to use and you do not have to shell out a bomb to use it. Reliance Global call have just launched their Simply ReliancePlan in USA, UK, Singapore, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Hong Kong and have also launched the calling card service in India to call over 200 countries worldwide. Calling from USA to India is just 1.99 /min.

    Default help me out

    Hi

I am trying to set up v-portal. am getting an error message 008.

i reside in salem, TN, India.

i use beetel 220 BX modem. and my PC is connected to net thru Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC.

when i contacted the vonage Customer care at US, they said vonage device is perfect and some setup in my modem is blocking the access and hence this error message.

what do I do. can anybody help me solve this issue. I am trying to do this for nearly 2 months now and am fed up with this.

    Default hi essbebe

    thnx for ur response..

I do have a US number.. it was working perfect thr.

I did not make any change in modem setting.. nor in my vonage unit. but US vonage customer care ppl never told me anything like this.

I do have a username password to connect to internet and i know that too.. but airtel service engr, has set it up such that, as soon as i switch on the modem, it connects me to the net. will this affect, configure vonage?

i would appreciate it more than anything, if you can guide me step by step, to configure and use my vonage device.

vonage adapter model number is : VDV21-VD

ans for qno 5: No.. i dont hear any recorded voice..

ans for 1 no 6: i am not using my laptop right now. so, i shall give you this detail in another 5 hours.

i tried to connect the device as iti is in the manual. i cud see internet icon as well as the computer icon in the v-portal LCD display. But i am not able to see the phone line 1 or 2 icon. and it scrolls on the LCD display to plug out and plug in the cable and error code 008 scrolls as well.

i have problem using my vonage USB too.

OS used: Windows XP Professional version 2002 service pack 2

When I plug in my vonage USB device, the screen flashes 'Detected Vonage V-Phone' message for less than 2 secs, then displays ' Initializing Vonage Talk Software..' for again less than 2 secs.. after which nothing happens!

In Task Manager, Under 'Processes' Tab, Under Image name, I see two processes names listed
vonagesetupusb.exe Username: admin CPU: changes between 00 and 01 mem usage around 6300k.
VonageTalkUSB.exe Username : admin CPU: shows constantly 00 mem usage: appr 10,500 k.

Other than these two processes, there is no other activity seen on the screen.

i have tried out bringing autodown.exe icon to the desktop and then launching vonage USB from desktop. whatever may be the case, nothing further appears on the screen.

how to proceed with this? help me pls.

i get request timed out msg when i pinged at the dos prompt.

and now to top it all, my v-portal device is not lighting up at all.. should i take it that the power supply is not through to v-portal any more?

gimme some time essbebe.. thanks pretty much for ur efforts to help me.. i am out of station for the next 5 days.. let me come back and fight with this again.

and regarding vonage USB, it is only when i try to use this USB, i get those 2 processes displayed in task manager and not with v-portal.

Please try an ordinary telephone in "Tone mode"
    or a cordless phone.
Two telephones can be connected to Vonage unit V Portal

The PSU unit if suspect. . Get exact replacement
    Input 100-240V AC~ .8 A

    Output +12V=======1.5Amp
use same output plug. Center +ve
will cost around Rs 200 to Rs 250/=
