Default Does wireless router from USA works in INDIA???

Hi,

I want to buy linksys router from USA for my home in India but i am told that it will not work because of the volt. Since in USA it is 110V and in India it is 220V and 50WT. What should i do? will i get it from india too? and i have a DSl airtel at home in india, so which one is best for that?

You will need a 220V/50Hz to 110V/60Hz adapter. This is very much available in India. Ans so yes. It will work.

My Linksys WRT54G was purchased in USA and I had the same issue. I am using it with the adapter.

I am not sure about the adaptors , because in USA there are adaptors which state 220V to 110V but none of them have one with 110V to 220V and 50Ht. all of them are with 40Ht. I dont know where to buy from delhi?

hey, u get adaptors in US. as mentioned by just4kix, U will need to get a 220V 50Hz to 110V, 60Hz adaptor. These are available both in India and the USA.

Although, i would recommend u buy the router in india as that way u wont have these issues. (But, it seems u have already bought it)

Buy the adapter in India. These are available in almost every city's electrical shop (small towns may be a different matter). The cost is usually Rs. 395/- (at least when I purchased).

I dont see any point in buying a router from USA and sending it to India, reason being.. they are cheaper to buy in India with quality being the same as they are all manufactured in China or any xyz country in the same factories.

If you have already bought your router even then its not an issue... All the appliances you buy in states work here in India all you need is a small adapter as the pins are different and it only costs around Rs50 at New Delhi.

Gone are the days when electronics or computing stuff used to cost 2-3 times here in India as compared to Europe and North America. Now a days you will find that everything is cheaper in India as compared to USA with a few excptions of very high end electronics and computer components.

If you cant find an adapter at your local shop just look at ebay

Correct. Almost all electronic gadgets (99%) are now made in China. My new and very hi-tech Logitech Harmony One remote is made in China.

A flat-pin to round-pin adapter will not work as the power supply units for these "made for America" routers are 110V/60Hz only. Hence an adapter/converter is required.
