Default Which is the best broadband service for my requirements

Hi,
I have posted this under Airtel's forum for i feel Airtel is the one that can best satisfy my requirements.

1. unlimited downloads( or atleast night time free).
2. minimum speed of 512kbps
3. Initial charges should be the least(i don own a modem but i have a ethernet card)
4. priced under 1k and most important i don wan the phone that comes along with some broadband connections, at all.
5. Both Linux and windows OS should be supported.
6. wired or wireless not an issue until speed is guaranteed.

I might be askin for a lot but if u guys could comment on whick connection to go then it would be fine. What i only need is internet and i don need to have a phone set.

I would appreciate your help

ciao

Airtel Broadband ISP is the best requirement for using high speed broadband internet, its gives u frequent connectivity without any problem.

You can use in any OS, Windows or Linux, all r supported...

Hey,

I believe the best option is Airtel or BSNL 's EVDO card. Though the decision is depending on the city. Every ISP I tried supports both Linux and Windows, though with Linux, you should be able to do it yourself, in cases like BSNL EVDO. I hear by july Reliance and Tata are releasing high speed wireless also up to 8Mbps connection.

* Airtel in Blore offers service guarantee of 4 hours, but not in other cities.
* Airtel has minimal downtime, while TATA/VSNL does have downtime in case of long power failure (not in city areas though). You get unlimited 384 Kbps for Rs. 1000 + tax
* BSNL's EVDO card is excellent and offers unlimited speed upto 2 Mbps for Rs. 550 per month (plus modem rental of Rs. 200 if not outright purchase), but the catch is you should be in aerial distance of 1 KM max. However we are getting around 1 Mbps speed. It is unlimited download too.
* In select cities, VSNL offers 2Mbps (exact 2Mbps) connection where you can download unlimited in the nights. In day time it is the time based plan.

Enjoy hi speed browsing!!

From my personal experience, I have found that MTNL is the least worst in Bombay. My experience on taking gprs on my mobile with Airtel was a nightmare and I have posted separately on that, besides posting to a lot of blogs on "Airtel sucks". I also took Reliance Netconnect but the speed is not so good. However, I didn't expect any miracle with that either.

Besides, I also took a prepaid connection from Hathway but got it after almost two months and after posting to a lot of blogs on "Hathway sucks".

I would recommend MTNL for Bombay.
