Default kbps or KBPS

I saw in few threads that some peoples mention kBps instead of kbps. there is often confusion between these two. Typically they are not same

kbps or kb/s is actaully kilobits per second and
kBps or kB/s or KBPS or KB/s is kilobytes per second.

so kBps is 8 times of kbps. Network connections are generally expressed in kbps

Many of u must be knowing well about this, but just thought of sharing.

you are right

most of the ppl who buy internet broadband think when they buy 256 kbps
they will get 256 KB/sec download speed which is not correct

Man you are soo correct , sometimes I just want to stop and tell those guys who complain about getting 40 KBps on 256 Kbps lines , hey buddy , 32 KBps is the theoretical maximum !!! ur getting 40 KBps , 320 Kbps , BE HAPPY !!!! by the way , I like your avatar , cat doing push ups he he he he ghahaaahahahhhaaahhhahaha !

These internet providers always say kilobits per sec[Kbps] in their plans and on banners.... but when come to Downloading it always shows in kilobytes per sec [KBps]
So when ever when ever internet providers says that kbps we hav to convert them into KBps to know the Download speed

Ex:- 256Kbps means 256/8 = 32KBps

Ya we Know Kbps/8 = 1 KB/s

Everybody who uses internet a lot would be knowing this basics. But good to share so that novice can learn better
