& im really serious about this. Indian broadband is practically gonna kill me one day.
Ok.. so here's my problem. Im an internet enthusiast.. & more than that i really really LOVE gaming. playing Shooters & other genres. as you may know that one thing that we really neeed to play Online games is a decent internet service. I ve been using Airtel Broadband for many many months... it's been more than 3 years now. & i ve mostly used Home 999 Plan.. where i used to get 256 Kbps speed (maximum of 30-40 KBytesPerSec downstream & 25 KBytesPerSec Upstream). that's what i used to get a few months earlier during the daytime... & obviously the download speed almost doubled during Nights.. Like 60+ KBytesPerSec. But Upload speed remained the same.. 25 Kbps. Now it seems that Airtel has increased the speed for Home999 Plan to 384 KBPS. & for last few months i've been getting a download speed of 60+ KBytesPerSec during the day.. and it rises to 70-80 KBytesPerSec during Nights. I know most of you don't really care about the upload speeds. But i really do... i ****** do !!.. I want... No I demand a faster & more stable upload speed from Airtel... But Im still getting 25-28 KBytesPerSec. There have been absolutely no improvements. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY ONLINE WITH THIS UTTER PATHETIC UPLOAD SPEED THAT AIRTEL IS PROVIDING US. & It's a Shame that this is the best i can get in India ? I mean home users don't get any better speeds than this... that's what the blood CCEs tell me everything.."Sir You can't get any better speeds on this Plan. You may get some improvements if you switch to better one (an expensive one they mean, But NOTHING IS CONFIRMED)... That's what the idiots say everytime. I ve been requesting these people to increase my upload speed for so many months... something better please... i need a much stable connection... But No positive response. Im broken... Hopeless... I almost regret the day i started playing online games. It started with Halo Trial... now i play other games... and experience so much lag... I Live in a country that's really too far away from other countries which has plenty of online gamers. If im playing a server that's located in United States... My ping is gonna be 300-350. The server response is so very for me..... The Lag i experience is Truly Horrible. The strange thing i see on servers is that there are many other players who experience almost NO Lag even with a ping of 300+. People from countries like Poland, Brazil & many others get no big Lag problems like I do. I can't even host a server, it's unstable due to poor connectivity & High ping due to my location. It's not that Im a noob or i don't know what lag really is.... Believe me there are not many people in this world who have experienced the stuff i Have during online games. It's been practically impossible for me to even play at higher pings... & my personal life has become so difficult.. i truly regret the day i played this game called F.E.A.R.... I've been playing it since 2005.. the day it's Multiplayer Demo released. i don't know why.. something isn't right.. I just cannot control myself from playing this game. I try F.E.A.R. Combat & Mutliplayer Demo time to time.. i find different servers in Mp Demo which give me a ping of 300-350. I used to play it so well with a ping of 180 on a japansese server... now playing even good is practically impossible with a ping 300-340. While other players from different countries still manage to get good experience with that ping. I only get Horrible LAG... Thanks to Airtel broadbanad.... The fastest you can in india... Get Broadband.. get a life. makes me laugh. How Pathetic indian internet services can be ? & more than than... how uber pathetic their Customer Care services really are ?

On this Earth right now.. I see now possibility... i see now Hope.. No help.. nothing at all. There is abosolutely no way to get a faster upstream on my existing Plan ? isn't Rs 1100 enough for a Home user to demand a quality broadband from it's ISP ? I mean... im paying almost 1200 for my broadband every month... How do I get faster & stable speed on this earth right now.... with my existing Home 999 Plan ? Is there any possible way ? Just compare india with any other country in this world.. You'd find better Internet facilities there. While Airtel is the best you can get in india... it's probably the worst in this world. If I Kick Airtel in the butt.. & decide not to use their Service from now(at times i feel like that)... it's my own loss then. In my knowledge there is no better service than Airtel right now.. is there ? Is there any way to play Online games with 300-350 pings lagfree ? Any Solutions for my problem ?

You should be happy that you have airtel in your area and atleast you connects works and able to surf the net

what about ppl who are using Reliance wimax or Sify

believe me move to reliance and sify and then you will appricate airtel service

Imagine for those who don't even have Airtel BB in their area. Airtel sucks at coverage. And I was shocked when I found you getting a speed of 60-80 kBps and that too on an unlimited connection!! And you pay JUST 1200/-..! Yes, JUST..when I compare the speed..!

You are lucky..!
And I don't think you're gonna get any better speeds.. sorry..

If Airtel sucks then you can try to switch to BSNL belive me it is more faster than airtel and it is cheap too i mean you can opt the 1350 UL unlimited connection and start gaming like hell in which max speed is 512kbps (64KB/s)...........and if you can push yourself too hard then you opt for home 500 plan in which there is a limit of 1.5 GB but you have a option of night unlimited in which its timing are from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM and you will get awesome speeds i dont about uploading but on downloading you will 200KB/s avg. believe me!!!

And yes you are living in a country which is far behind every other country except pakistan & bangladesh and other 3rd world countries, i think in the coming 5 years............................ nothing is going to happen!!in terms of technology advancement and other things also like electricity,food,water these basic things are not available then you can forget about "true" broadband

Ow... Lol... i thought airtel was spread all over india. Yep... I really appreciate their service at times... mostly when im downloading stuff thru internet. The download speed is really very consistent if you're a using download manager. I hardly experience any downtimes & their CCE are always ready to help if there is a technical problem. & the double speed we get during night is truly awesome. But still... When compared to other countries India is way behind... with some of the worst internet speeds & network. I expect a lottt from Airtel. It's like... they're my only hope. But IMO they're not making any good changes in their existing plans. Their exisiting customers have no ohter choice but to continue using their service... Because there is absolutely no competition for Airtel. Im just looking for a little more upload speed.. something above 50-60. & a much stable connection. But their executives offer no help.. they ask me to upgrade my Plan to get even faster Download speeds... But they're not even sure that'll increase my upload speed or not. Nothing's confirmed... they say... there are no commitments. The risk is my own... & right now im not willing to pay any more for better speeds.
Anways.. I think i should really forget about better speeds & internet in this life in this country.. It's pretty clear that there is no possibility.... No Hope. "sigh" nothing's left... I ain't gonna call their Customer care service again. I wish i was born somewhere else... just to play games i mean... & If it was possible, I would even want to run away from my home to a place in this world where i could play online games with low pings & or experience something really better...... This life is F-ed up... Why did this happen to me...........................

Buddy , Airtel broadband is based on ADSL technology .

ADSL Technology = More Download speed , Less Upload Speed.

If u want SDSL technology = Same upload and download speed then go for cable , but I grantee that you will come back to Airtel Broadband

Please dont kill yourself man , take a chill pill , call some friends over with their lappies and setup a lan gamming environment it's much more fun then , like CS !!!!

I was using airtel broadband and it used to get disconnected every 12 hours. Half an hour intraction with customer care and they send someone for correcting the problem. Then next day again it get disconnects.
Lately I've decided to disconnect the connection and finaly I've came out ot a big trap.

Guys please stay away from Airtel broadband.

What the hell u whining about! Man higher upload speed will not reduce the ping at all! Have you even looked at the bandwidth consumption for these games, they hardly take any bandwidth. I am an online gamer too, I play CS Source on servers with 32 people still i dont have a lag problem with a 256k bsnl connection. Ofcourse i dont play US server because the ping will be too high. This ping problem is because of distance not upload rate. The bandwidth consumption for online games are very little, because the data packets sent between the server and client are optimized tremendously, or else 32 player sessions, 64 player session are not at all possible.
You should really drop the idea of playing FPS with people on the other side of the earth. If u want to play games then go MMOs or RTS here ping doesnt matter much. I have HL2 DM and DOD Source but cant play, because no local servers. I play WoW on a nether land private server with 360ping sometimes it goes till 600ping but these games are designed to play with high pings.

"praneesh" What city are you from ? You should post your Modem statistics Like SNR values etc etc in this forum and ask for help , Airtel Broadband is generally very good
