    Default Wimax in Bangalore

    Hi All!

    I am new to the forum and am looking for some advice.

    I have recently shifted to Marathahalli area in Bangalore and am using BSNL broadband for some time. It is good but the problem is that there is no telephone line in the room where the PC is kept. I am keeping the router in my bedroom and using the connection both for the PC as well as laptop.

    Usually the connxn is good but sometimes it gets weak. Either disconnects or becomes slow.

    Can you guys suggest me a way out? Do you recommend any wimax connection for this?

    Regards

    Anup

    @anupsharma,

    You could go with the following options:

    1. From your post, I did not clearly make out whether you have a Wireless router at home. If not, this is the best option. Your laptop will probably already have wireless card built-in but for the desktop you may need to buy one.

    2. You could keep your modem/router in the room where telephone line exists and run an ethernet (RJ45) cable from that router to the room where your PC/laptop is located. For this you may have to call your carpenter who can do the job. If your place is rented then you may also need the owner's permission.

    If you are asking about Wimax, airtel also provides Wimax but for corporate....Also, right now, any of Wimax neither of reliance nor of Tata is good....for WiMax, you may need a tower quite nearby.

    For wireless connections, broadband is good of reliance, though even with new device they clain 3.1MBps speed, it is not good enough. Best way I found is, if you wnat at home only, then go for fixed Line nad attach wireless Access point there....You can make it ecrypted and get it every part of your home/office. But in desktop, you may need to add a wireless interface,. in laptops, you will get it inbuilt.
