    Default My Broadband link gets disconnected often during night & evening

    Hi,
    I have been using Airtel Broadband for almost one year. I am in an 384kbps unlimited plan
    My landline number 044 45574081 (Chennai)

    For four weeks i am facing this problem.
    My link gets disconnected often during night time & in the evening times. In the daytime it is quite stable.

    These are my dsl status when my link is stable.



    Before my link flaps the SNR margin for downstream goes below 15 dB & for upstream it goes below 6dB.

    In the night time i see a SNR margin of 7dB in the upstream.

    Does these SNRs look good?

    I have logged more than three complaints with the customer care. After they came & looked at the problem then frequent disconnects are not seen often. But after few days the frequent disconnected appeared again.

    I dont know what they did in terms of rectifying the problem since i was not in home that time.

    My last two complaint numbers are
    8317558 --- (they changed the splitter and closed this complaint. But problem is still there)
    8476992 --- Still open (for four days)

    The frequent disconnects irritates me..Now the 'Airtel' irritates me..

    Default I too have the same problem

    During evenings and nights, I get frequent disconnection.. In fact I have 2MBPS unlimited plan and I have a high configuration PC but still I dont get more than 600 KBPS bandwidth. I have logged a several complaints with Airtel and when they come andcheck, they show the download is about 800KBPS (in their site only) and they say that's what I would get... Buy why the hell the advertise it as a 2MBPS plan??... after they leave, I once again see the disconnection problem and low bandwidth.. I am tired of complaining.. I am with Airtel for more than 2 years, but I face this problem for the past few months. I am now thinking of changing my IPS provider to a different vendor.

    I meant to say 1 MBPS unlimited and not 2. It was a typo in my earlier post.

    my dear think 4 the plight of those who r disconnected every six hrs....only two times dissconnection n u r irritated with airtel.....airtel is the best provider n if it is disconnecting twice tht the least since its india n the condition of srevice providers wont improve till DOT looks into the matter .....
    even bsnl a mtnl has dissconnection issues which r much more thn airtel.....now above airtel in INDIA its nothing.....

    Hi Saravanan.2407.

    I am in Chennai too. This low bandwidth and frequent disconnection problem is with all the internet providers.. I hear that compared to others, people say that Airtel is much better... It's the best of the worst.. I guess we have no other better choice.. This is very frustrating..

    They are not wrong.. Its not 2 MBPS its 2 mbps . there is damn big difference.. the foremer is Mega byte n latter mega bit. wat they offer is 2mbps.. ie 2 mega bit per second. 2mb/8=250KBps... the download speed shd be around 250KBps.. n ur getting moore than that...so be happy abt it.

    am an AIRTEL BB customer since 2006 and till now am getting the speed higher than they say and now am in impatience plan and get around 4mbps speed and even more but in recent days i too experience some problem with my connectivity and logged many complaints regarding that particularly i face this problem in night times only so this should be an service end problem after viewing ur complaints

    There are 2 solutions here

    1) They can change your dedicated Copper wire from the exchange to another port.

    2) They give you a new cable directly from the junction box outside your house directly to your room.


    3) Have you tried bypassing the micro-filter all together ?

    4) What are your Line Attenuation figures ?

    SNR
    1. 6dB or below is bad and will experience frequent disconnection problems
    2. 7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
    3. 11dB-20dB is good with little or no sync problems
    4. 20dB-28dB is excellent
    5. 29dB or above is outstanding

    Attenuation
    1. 20dB and below is outstanding
    2. 20dB-30dB is excellent
    3. 30dB-40dB is very good
    4. 40dB-50dB is good
    5. 50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
    6. 60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

    One of these resolutions should fix the low SNR Margin issue ,Dont let them close the ticket unless you get better SNR values, anything below 7 and you will face frequent disconnections.

    I think the Quality of Service of Airtel engineers are different in different parts of India , in Pune they are extremely professional and very co-operative .

    Compared to the 7 other ISP's that I have used Airtel has close to 0 down time in the 2.5 yrs ive been with them .
