Default Chennai : Speed burst ?

    I'm on 128kbps UL Airtel.. since 2 years ..
Today suddenly, I'm getting good speeds of around 300kbps..

Does it mean all 128kbps UL --> 256kbps UL ?
and.. the speed burst has been constant throughout the night!

I know 256kbps UL and 128kbps UL have almost the same tariff, I tried to migrate to 256kbps UL arnd a year back, but then I had figured that the final tariff difference would be around 150 rupees extra per month (including Service Tax)..

So, this a good move for me.
Anyone else in Chennai who's on 12kbps UL can confirm this?

    Attached is the Speedtest result!

Most companies normally announce well in advance if they are increasing bandwidth for a particular package like in your case 128kbps. It is very unlikely that these speeds will stay unless there is some announcement.

Its very much possible that Airtel doesnt want to have any packages below 256kbps now and would increase your speed and still charge you for your orignal package.

hmm, but since both the packages are priced almost the same, maybe they thought, WTH, why don't we just abolish 128kbps UL and migrate everyone to the standard 256kbps UL..

In that case it would be great news for all those who use 128kbps package and if price escalation is not covered in airtel's agreement then they cant even increase your monthly charge.

    Have fun.

They had actually upgraded everyone from 128kbps to 256kbps!!!
And they increased the monthly tariff also.. from 650 to arnd 800 per month..
