    Default Fishy Airtel

    Hi everyone
I am new here. My name is Ajit Verma and I am writing from Lucknow UP.

I contacted Local Airtel office on 28 July 2008 and asked them about different broadband plans available these days. They asked me to leave my contact number with them and assured me that someone would contact me.

I was contacted by Airtel sales officer (Sharad Singh) that day and he told me all the plans and tariffs and asked me to fill up the form immediately because according to him only one slot was available in our area. I asked him that I need sometime to think before signing up. But he insisted and said that I must decided by the evening. I agreed with hesitation and after 2 or 3 hours of thinking I phoned him and gave my consent. I agreed for 64Kbps Unlimited 499 Rs/month plan.

On 28 July this sales officer again came to my house at 10 pm (Night) this time accompanied by an airtel engineer; I was not present at that time and my father answered the door bell. The Sales officer told my father that engineer has conformed to him that broad band connection was available and I need to fill up the form immediately and deposit 800Rs with him. My father told him that I was not present at home and asked him to contact us next day.

On 29 July 2008 he contacted us again; I filled the form and gave him 800Rs in cash. He told me that I would get broadband connection before 31 July 2008 at all cost. On 31 July I was contacted by Airtel technical personal. He conform my address and said that Line man would come to my house for wiring. As said; the line man came to my house and started to work. The DP from which they intended to provide connection was at around 100 meter distance from my house. After an half an hour some technical officer from Airtel phoned me and requested me that he wanted to talk to his line man. After this call line man stopped their work and told me that technical officer has ordered them not to provide connection to me. They told me that the DP was full and new DP has to be installed. I waited till 4 August 2008; nobody contacted me. I called airtel office and they said that my form has been rejected. Someone from technical wing said to me that I need to contact the concerned sales officer. I said to him that since my form is rejected then how come your sales officer can help; I asked him to refund my money but he insisted that I should first talk to Mr. Sharad Singh (The Very same Sales officer who came to my house on 28 July) The situation become very fishy because technically my form was rejected then how come sales officer still say that he can provide me connection. Mr Sharad Singh has conformed to me that connection was available but technical officer is refusing to provide it and advising me to talk to sales officer before refunding money. I have no proof or evidence but I think that some of employees of Airtel are involved in corrupt activity and Airtel should investigate it. I am not accusing anyone but such big company as Airtel should investigate such matter carefully for its own sake. As for me I would not dare to apply for Airtel BroadBand Connection again in my life; my old BSNL dial up is good for me. I don’t understand what they are doing but I hope Airtel would return my money.

    Thumbs up

    Hello,

The biggest mistake that you made is pay the amount and not taking a receipt of payment.

It is normal for this to happen as they already told you that they have only one slot left. by the time the Technician got your installation complete the slot was gone.

Not trying to defend Airtel but that could be the reason.

But there is no reason for Airtel to keep your money they should return the same to you.

    Regards

Thank you for replying BradEuk. I got receipt of the payment; but what I don’t understand is why airtel has wasted my time? You can’t trust these sales officer or executives; they represent modern hi-tech inefficient, incompetent babus.
