I had a similar issue with Airtel mobile last year...
I had a post paid airtel mobile phone connection and whenever I used to go out of station or needed internet access on the go I would just call them up and get the mobile office thing activated as it used to cost a certain amount for each day and I was able to discontinue it with a call and things were going ok for some time and one fine day I called them to activate it as I was going to leave NewDelhi for a couple of days and the customer care guy said it was already activated since last 3 months and I have also been paying the money to them without realising that who ever took my call when I called for deactivating the service 3 months ago never did that.
It was just a matter of few hundred rupees but I was right so I asked them to sort out my previous bills which they refused to do so I asked them to disconnect my mobile phone as well coz there were a lot of other mobile service providers and they would be happy to provide me with a connection and the manager at airtel said my phone will be disconnected by the next day.. nothing happened my phone was still working even after 3 days so I called again and d was again promised that the connection will be shut the next day ... I got a call the next day saying that my bills will be sorted and I can avail their corporate mobile office offer which I think was Rs99 I am not too sure how much it was coz its been a long time now so I thought well its a good offer and a saving of about Rs400-500 per month and my bills are gonna get sorted as well which means I will get back my Rs2000 something which I have been paying them for nothing.. so I agreed to continue with them and the next months bill... Rs99 for the gprs as promised and no credit for the incorrect billing from the previous months so I called them againThis time I did some maa ki behen ki over the phone and was again promised that my bill will be sorted the next month..
Next month I got a bill with Rs500 something for gprs as opposed to Rs99 for my gprs service and no action for the previous mistakes so I decided to give up on them and used my phone as much as I could including a lot of international calls... Total bill for the next month Rs22000 something as opposed to the normal 6-7 grandsand I asked them to **** off for ever.. I refused to pay my bills and I have recieved a few notices but I never recieved any from the post guy or the curior guy and kept sending them back as premises locked.. Rs10 per letter to the post guy
. After a few weeks I got a threatening call on my home phone and the guy kind of told me that pay up or get beaten up ... I asked him to come to my place and I will pay up the money and no one ever showed up.
I never paid airtel and they have given up as well.

I have again taken up a post paid connection from airtel and I will screw them for another 20 grands once they increase my credit limit![]()

I am aslo cheated by Airtel.
Story starts in May of 2007 when i tried to get ABC. I went to Airtel office and from there one person came to my home who fill a form and take 500 rupees and one later refund the amount and said to there is no connection (port) available for me to get connection, but the next day he come me and said that sir you can get connection and take 500 rupees and gave me the slip once again and then never come back and when asked about connection said that as soon as it would be available i will call you and when asked about refunding money he told me that it would come from company as money has been deposit and it will take about two to three months, but it never happen so and as i wanted to connection i contacted office again and again but not the same person as his mobile number was not working now and finally i had told that your slip was a stolen slip and there is an FIR record on these a slip containint about 30 slips and so there is no hope for recovery of your money and when asked about connection that we would send person to check availabilty but no one come to me.
More recently, i had notice a banner in an PCO shop that contact for boradband connection and on enquiry they said that they provide Airtel and on requesting about my address they said that it can be done and my number was forwarded to an airtel and at the same night one person from airtel come to me asked and said connection is available please pay 800 rupees to order this and while he enquired about connection he was not sure about connnection so i refuse to pay and tell my previous experience and at the same time a phone from his boss come to him and i asked him to talk with him and tell him the story then he said that sir it is okay we will gave connection you first and then you have to pay it was the just yesterday. I am lookig forward to what is happening but at present no progress (Aug 20, 2008 5:00 pm)

I very recently experienced very badly from Airtel. They had introduced a Prepaid Plan of 200 RC and the Talk time 190 for 200RC. They had sent the SMS to all the Prepaid users in Karnataka. We were using that offer. After some days they taken back that Plan completely without intimating to any one. I get recharged for RC200 even dealer sujested the offer, But received only 175 RS. Dealer said "Airtel will give full amount of 190 RS if a complaint has been logged. Thinking that I contacted Customer Care regarding, but they said they gonna send SMS very soon regarding the Plan Change. These are all Fraud really.. for surprise, the Customer Care Personal refused to take a complaint on this.Assume..from single RC, they will be getting RS 20/- freely..Howmany prepaid users are there.. If only 50% of them recharged for RC200...How much money flows into Airtel Bag freely... If you call Customer care, You'll hear a Big Bull Story but you'll never get a resolution like in BSNL. Im really Upset because of the service from Airtel. Now a days Airtel Network is the worst than Spice. dear users...If you have received an SMS introducing any offer, please think 10 times before getting RC... Because its your money. Don't give single rupee freely.Give it to any beggar.. Don't be cheated.
airtel broadband constantly disconnects and i never get the speed i am supposed to get. and their billing practices are atrocious at best. since two
years i have been trying to get them to email my monthly bill to my email address. but as of now they have not been able to do that. every month i have to call them a million times and then they send the bill and promise that the problem will be resolved by the next bill cycle. no such luck. indian broadband scene is pathetic at best because of these jokers.

i hope i dnt get into such trouble with them finally found a decent internet soln for me...
i dnt use their landline to make much calls so i think i'll be fine.
AIRTEL is the worst broadband service provider, i have ever seen

Say we apply 256kbps Internet connection speed , they give only 26kbps or so
Connection lost frequently, dead connection intermittently
poor customer service, not having any state of the art customer service infrastructure
not ready to solve the problems faced by their customers
and Cheats people with false advertisements
Same way, while providing the connection, promised false details about the billing cycle.. and once they provide the connection... Airtel employ himself was calling from my landline stating that checking the connection and at the billing details found all the call charges are made by Airtel employ and if you ask the customer care they are not providing the numbers of the dialled one..... stating that all the calls are made by me....
In my home almost 5 cell phones and one BSNL land line are there why should I use Airtel - its not economical too.
