Regarding payments, please ask Airtel sales. Somethings that I will advise are: - do not pay any advance - always pay by cheque; this way you have a record. - if advance is a must, then insist on a receipt and a written commitment - say connection will be made in 7 days of realization of cheque - insist on knowing all terms and consitions including tranfer charges (if you shift residence), min hire period, early disconnection charges (if any), etc.

Thanks For Info But the speed u r telling that is 48KB/s will i get speed of atleast 45-48KB/s most of the time or it will be very low sometimes. And also i have heard some availability Problem of connection with Airtel that is they don't provide more than certain number of connection in a area(in my case a Whole Pocket). I currently Using TATA Which Expires on OCT 20,2008. But with the speed that Airtel is Laying it's Cable i think they will come by Mid-September itself. So since i will be having my Validity in MY TATA account so should i just Pay the Installation Money which they say is 500+300=800.And can i tell them i will be out of town for a Month or so so can i that way Hibernate my connection for some time. And the cost of 384Kbps connection here is 999+Taxes=approx Rs 1122 which is what i am paying for my 256Kbps connection ![]() Thanks

My advice has been restricted to general idea about how to go about for payments, etc. You raised another point regarding paying Rs. 1122/- to Airtel for a 384 kbps connection when you are paying the same for a 256 kbps connection. To me this sounds a great reason to switch.

Rep Power: 2 | I don't know how much Airtel is charging for their Unlimited/Limited broadband secvices, but if it is more than Rs. 500/m, then i will recommend to go for BSNL Plan 500c(2Mbps), and use any good Night Usage Manager for utlizing their "free usage time" to download few "GB" data daily. see:Broadband How to However if u don't require to download real big s/w's then also i will not recommend u to go for their Broadband services, its better to use their "Mobile Office" service on Prepaid GPRS Enabled sets. it will cost u Rs. 75(30 with hack) for One week activation, and its speed is about 115 Kbps which is not bad at all, however i have heared that this speed depends upon ur GPRS modem, if it is class 10 Modem then the speed may rise to 256 Kbps also. So what did u prefer, Over 500/- Pospaid(Hidden Charges), or Prepaid(NO Hidden Charges), with Only 120/- Pm(with Hack). |

| Aditya | on 384kbps plan the normal download (transfer rate) speed should be somewhere around 48kbps but in some cases it is going upto 60kbps at nite. and as you said that no one is telling you about shared connection so don't worry about it airtel is not on shared connection as you are using a secure connection so it will not affect you like that. nite speed depends upon your package so better if you speak to airtel cust care about it once or check details of package... |

I am on Home 888 Unlimited Plan ( 256 Kbps during the day / 512 Kbps during the night unlimited all throughout ) During the day I get between 35 to 40 KBps at nights the speed is generally between 70 to 95 KBps ) but I am really not sure about Delhi . Quote:
256 Kbps / 8 = 32 KBps ( theoretical max on 256 , that's why I like Airtel , Kills every other broadband service , I really don't know why people are cribbing about slow speeds on Airtel ) 30 KBps = 240 Kbps 40 KBps = 320 kbps Small b = Kilobits per second ( Usually what your ISP provides ) Big B = kilobytes per second , 1 Byte makes 8 Bits . All these Bites are making me feel like having "Cadbury Bites" anyone want to join me . I hope this info is correct Last edited by jakemake123456; 09-27-08 at 11:33 AM. Rep Power: 2 | Upload , it depends , it's mostly almost the same as the download speed . On the 888 plan during the day time I get 40 KBps down , 28-34 KBps up. During the night its 75KBps down , 58-65 KBps up. But it all depends on your line quality , SNR value ... etc etc . I guess you should get about 48-56 KBps down , and about 42-48 KBps up on 384 Kbps connection. I live in Pune . |
