Default FTP not working for Network Computers - Airtel Connetion

    Hi Friends,

I just purchase Airtel Conenction as backup line and am facing a network issue.

When i have my airtel connection on, other computer in the network(All computers are connected using switch and the airtel beetle box is connect to my pc), every one can surf sites with out any problem. But once we try using FTP, its not allowing to upload files of more then 8KB. smaller files work as usual. Not sure what the problem is?

btw, i have reliance connection as well, which works fine with FTP.

I tried to check airtel box settings, but networking is not something i am good at

    Thanks,
    Maulik

Check out the trace route... does your airtel connection make it in less then 10-12 hopps?

Where is your ftp server hosted? I have had issues some tier 1 bandwidth providers but those boxes which are connected to multiple tier 2 providers work just fine.

    hey,

the FTP server which we use generally, it took 15 hoops from my pc(here everything works fine) and from another network computer it took 16 hoops.

After this, i tried another site which is hostel somewhere else, there also it just uploaded 8K of that file and then stopped uploading.

    Thanks,

Can you check if Airtel is blocking port 21 ?

Just check your connection and see what all portr are blocked if any.

Try Open Port Check Tool but there are tools you can download and run to do an extensive check. Google!
