Service providers usually watermark the channels so as to prevent counterfeiting/recording. The same is done by many channel providers. Usually it is unobtrusive.

    It can't be normally removed!
you can a PC with some advanded Video editing tools to remove watermark but it won't be in realtime.

    Suggestion:
You have to learn to live with it

The signal that is received from the satellite is pure except for the channel watermark (e.g., Star Plus, Zee, Sony, etc.). The DTH watermark is introduced by the firmware inside the STB. If some one knows how to alter the STB firmware, that person can remove it.

The DTH watermark is less prominent than the channel name watermark. It is best left alone as said by Gary4gar.

All the firmwares being loaded into STBs/modems/routers are based on the Linux platform.

Firmware is analogous to an OS. Appropriate coding knowledge is required for altering firmware..

It is not possible for a normal user to alter firmware of STB, its runs on embedded linux.

Also, this is customised and different for every operator.

so unless you have Access to Orginal Source Code & docs, you can't alter firmware

these watermarks do not create any such viewing discomfort ... you wont even notice them after some days ... you will get used to them .
