Are you switching from Airtel to Sun Direct? If yes, then Airtel will deactivate your account and you will not be able to view any channel from the Airtel connection.
FTA channels are not given as is. They are bundled as free channels when you subscribe to any package. When you disconnect, you will not get these channels. If you want FTA channels only (say on 2nd TV at home), you can buy DD Direct equipment and connection. There will be installation charges only. DD Direct shows all FTa channels only and they will be free for the lifetime.

FTA channels will be available to you with whatever package you have chosen. You do not need to add them.

You cannot add any channel (including FTA) manually. You get whatever is activated for you. All you can do is re-scan and retune the channels using the STB menu.
how to rescan and retune the channels
It is part of the STB menu. Press the menu button and there should be options. Every STB has different interface and hence I cannot tell you exactly where the option is.
Hunt for it or visit the website to know "how to" or call customer care.

As I told you, every STB is different. The interface is different. The menu is different.
In any case tuning is required as a last resort. You should be getting FTA channels by default. If you are not getting them, talk to customer care, mention the channel that you are not getting, and ask them why.
