I was staying at my cousins, and they have Airtel DTH and I have to say its a DTH service which is is terrible. I watching Airtel DTH for a whole week and there were alot of problems which I noticed, which I compared to Tata Sky and it was a lot. Airtel gives a lot of disturbances and this happens when it is not even raining, in between when its working Airtel DTH stops working and goes blank. And on some channels there is no sound at times! Another thing although Airtel DTH gives MPEG 4 technology, Tata Sky is much clearer!

I was considering changing from Tata Sky, but I think if anyone is thinking of doing this then you need to watch TV from the other DTH providers and then make your decision!

i have cable tv,..
i have to give him just 120/- month for the agreement that when Entertainment Tax guys will come and ask consumers what he takes from us, i have to say 150/- ;-)

You claim that you are posting from Farce's house and are jobless. Then how come you pay your cable TV subscription?

I am not finding any issues with Airtel DTH ( in Bangalore ) . Its rocking here with Crystal clear audio & video. I donno why you are getting such problems. It can be because of the dish alignment might have changed or so. Their customer support is also super . Why cant yoy raise one concern before blaming the whole Airtel DTH ?

I have been thinking of taking up a connection. I had Tata sky in mind.
but i always thought that airtel and big Tv would be grt, because they are well settled in the market and would offer only good services. but from what i'm getting from all u guys, i think i'll just stick to my cable connection. not that many channels but ithink it will do when compared to the problems i might have to face when i go in for a dish connection.

I cannot say about Airtel. But BigTV people do face lot of hassles.

You are much safer with TataSky or DishTV.

I had cable connection from Trishul Cable Communications Mathikere, Bangalore from 2006. Right from the beginning the connection was not clear (grainy picture in many channels) and he used to say the Cable Wiring in the wall was not good/right type. As per his suggestion he connected seperate wire externally. Even then same unclear pictures, now he said my TV (20' Thoshiba TV) had tuning problems to get it repaired. I too wanted to buy a bigger TV so went ahead and bought 32" Sony LCD "V series" Bravia. Even then it was unclear cable TV. Now he started blaming the Amplifier in the opposite house. I got fed-up and instructed him to disconnect his cable connection and got it noted down in his money collection card (he never gave any bills and always said he will get it at every year end). And all this time for nearly 2+ years I had been paying Rs.200 per month. Then his owner spoke to me and said he will rectify it requested me to continue and not to pay if quality is not good. I tried for 3 months and since it was bad I instructed him to disconnect it in march/april 08. Then I went for connection with another cable guy whose quality is excellent and at same Rs. 200/month. Now my old cable guy has complained to his association and threatened my current cable guy to disconnect it and I am supposed to take only from Trishul as I belong to his area of cable coverage itseems.

Now the question is DON'T WE THE CONSUMERS HAVE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE CONNECTION IF WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH SERVICE OF THE PROVIDER? WHO WILL GOVERN OR CONTROL THIS KIND OF HIGH HANDEDNESS? WILL THE GOVERNMENT/concerned AUTHORITY HELP US.

That's Absolutely true, Their are lot of problem in BIGTV with their hardware, I haven't used Airtel, but 1-2 friends of mine have airtel connection and they are also not happy with Airtel DTH due to some or the other problem. sometimes remote not working , like not responding and some time STB automatically restart.
