All DTH providers offer two multi-room multi-TV options.
The first option is fairly straight forward. You have one STB in the house and parallel cables/TV points all over the home. You can connect as many TVs as you want. But you can watch ONLY THE SAME CHANNEL on each TV. Also, switching of channels can be done only from the STB. You pay one connection fee only for such a connection. But this is not an ideal solution.
The second solution is the TRUE multi-rooom/multi-TV option. You have one MASTER connection (STB) in the home and up to THREE CHILD connections (STBs) in the same house. The MASTER connection is charged full price whereas the each CHILD connection is charged at approximately half the price of the MASTER connection (Rs. 145/- + tax in case of Airtel). Each TV will have an independent connection/STB and hence different channels can be watched on each TV.
There are some conditions however:
- The MASTER connection must have subscription to high end packages such as Gold, Platinum, etc or equivalent. This true Multi-TV option option is not available on basic packages.
- You will get the same channels on the CHILD connection as the MASTER connection.
- The connection will be at the same address/location only.
- Recharging is done on the MASTER connection only and children get recharge from the master STB. As soon as you recharge on the MASTER connection the amount is apportioned on the master and the children. Suppose you have one master and one child, then out of a Rs. 400 recharge, Rs. 300 may go to the master, while Rs. 100 may go to the child. THIS IS NOT THE EXACT FORMULA but an illiustration only.
--------------
In short, for three TVs, you will need one master and two children. The ultra pack will be at whatever the cost (full price) and the 2nd and 3rd TV connections will cost Rs. 145 + tax, EACH, i.e., Rs. 290 + tax.

Thx a lot...
Gr8 explanation....
By the way n e suggestions on which service provider to take...
I found the airtel one cheaper...it worked out to 4850 inluding a yr subscription for one tv that is..including the STB...
Any Suggestions???
DishTv is cheaper at Rs. 3990/- for the Titanium annual pack - this includes taxes. Child connections are at Rs. 150 + taxes. Installation charges, STB, etc. are extra. Check their website.
But one should not worry about one time costs such as installation, hardware, etc. The strategy should be based on long term plans, subscription fees/outgoing, quality of video/audio, service center, etc.
I will put DishTV on top for all things except the STB interface. I have mentioned this in another post.

Just yesterday (Sunday), I was facing an issue with paid channels having disappeared from view. I called the CC around 12 PM and explained the issue. The customer care person was very courteous and guided me thru a couple of options such as retuning, resetting, etc. These did not work. The guy asked me keep my STB in ON position for some time. The problem was rectified in 30 minutes. After a couple of hours, I received a feedback call checking whether my problem was resolved.
Another instance.
A couple of month's ago, my dish got misaligned because a local cable operator used the dish installation to harness his own cables. The dish was realigned for a charge of Rs. 250/-. Last week, the effects of strong wind and rain (cyclone Phyan) resulted in the same issue. The man came after a couple of days but the realignment was done at no extra cost because the previous work carried a warranty of 3 months.
Well I agree with this, that at present Dishtv Offer and Multi TV offer is best and most economical in the market.
Just Take Annual Titanium Pack worth Rs.3990 (Inclu. Tax) and get the same pack in child connection as well at Just Rs.150+ tax per connection.
Further I agree that now dishtv customer care service is really gone up and improved alot. Even i have very few good instances of Customer service as i called them hardly 3-4 times.
lol... thx for the explanation mate!*** Never argue with an idiot ***![]()
