Thread: color-hd channel on airtel-hd does not have 5.1 sound

Yesterday i subscribed color-hd channel but on my amplifier it doesn't show dolby-digital as shown with other channels.

Please share your experience as well.

I do not have HD at home so I am speculating.

I seriously doubt whether the "Colors" channel is a true HD channel. I suspect that it is an upconverted signal from SD to HD.

Secondly (and I am more confident on this),Dolby Digital is a sound encoding technology and is licensed by Dolby Labs. A small royalty needs to be paid for the usage. I doubt whether the channel is willing to use and pay for the technology where the content is essentially "soap opera".
