    Default New HD connection

Hi all, I have a tata sky SD connection for 3 years in Bangalore with no problems whatsoever. Now for an HD connection for a 37" LCD TV, it dint make sense paying so much for a few HD channels. I have a choice between Airtel HD or Videocon HD. Need your expert opinion regarding my confusion here

1)The quality of picture of HD and SD . How different are these in Airtel and D2H?
    2) My requirements are mainly English entertainment, sports [Football,F1, cricket occasionally] and tamil and kannada channels, all are available in both D2H and Airtel.
D2H offers more channels cheaper, but i wont be viewing most of them.
    3) The interface and the remote, i loved the TS interface and remote. Haven't heard such great things abt D2H, Airtel seems to be ok.
    4) Customer support - Though it was almost never necessary, would like to hear abt their services from existing customers.

Would be really helfpul if these queries are answered. Thanks guys.

There is a sea difference between HD and SD. Get an HD box and you would love the HD channels and end up watching more TV then you used to. I have used Airtel and Tata sky and at the moment I am with Tata sky and it is the best when it comes to customer support and user interface. Videocon is the cheapest from what I have read in other threads on our forum and you can find some long threads about that if you use the search function.

There is a general consensus on our forum about Videocon being better value for money as compared to all other providers.

As I said I use Tata sky and to be honest the only reason I am still using Tata sky is that I love the user interface too much and I am too used to it now that switching to another provider seems very unlikely unless I hear too many good things about one of them.

I would also recommend a good sound system to go with your TV set up along with the HD box if you really want to enjoy the movies on Star movies HD and there is also a new HD music channel and you would love the sound quality provided you have a good sound system.

HBO defined and HBO hits both are HD channels and are only available on Airtel as far as I know. Not even on Tata sky

I think you should go with Airtel DTH, simply because the have two extra English movie channels. And they also have a variety of English entertainment which is also available in HD.

Thanks people for the quick response, looks like Im leaning more toward airtel HD now. How bad/irritating is the airtel Logo and how good is their remote and interface as compared to Tata sky?

I used Airtel DTH for a couple of months and yes the Airtel logo was "annoying" back then. They may have changed it to something more sober now but I am not sure. You should check it first.

As far as remote control goes there is nothing better then Tata sky. Thats what I feel.

No ones interface is as good as Tata Sky's and you cant even compare it with another interface. Aietel interface is ok, havent seen Videocon's so cany judge that.
