Default Timeshift from Airtel Digital - better than TataSky+

Airtel IPTV provides a feature called timeshift. You can watch most TV programs upto one week old. This is better than PVR such as TataSky+.

Check here: Timeshift from Airtel Digital TV

p/s. With Airtel IPTV, you get landline, broadband and TV all in one. They have excellent packages. I was willing to go for this but Airtel is not able to provide service in my area.

Airtel IPTV is technologically better and there is no disruption of service in bad weather. You can also watch TV shows stored on Airtel's servers for the last 7 days.

Yes. That is true. No rain outage, no sun outage, etc.

The only problem is that it is not available everywhere.

@ To those who are having Airtel Braodband,
I will definitely recommend going with Airtel IPTV. I saw it at my sister's place in Gurgaon. Clarity is good. The STB also has component out - so those who have LCD can get 576i resolution. The TV + Broadband + Landline package makes it a good proposition and also less hassles as there is only one bill to pay.

    Default Airtel IPTV

Not upto the mark. I was one of the first ones to go for this in Gurgaon. Even though the quality of signal is great there are far many issues in the service.

    1. the UI is simply absurd. - Menu is badly designed.
    2. Slowest interaction with the box - press a button and wait for an era to finish before you see the next channel.
    3. iTV services are bogus - same stuff posted.
    4. If there is heavy load on the router then you can see the picture and sound go out of sync and add more pressure on the modem, the image gets digitally dissolved and the sound is broken.
    5. updates takes time and you are not informed on time.
    6. Service center guys start first from restart and reboot and then they stick to it even if that doesnt happen.

If it is truly IP driven then why not check whats wrong with the box.

The service has potential but Airtel is not doing justice to it.
    Cheers!

The limitation of dth is lesser compared to IPTV. Have you experienced HD? if yes is it better than IPTV?

There are only two HD broadcasters with 1080i soon they should be increasing the number of channels with HD broadcast.

IPTV and HD are entirely different as chalk and cheese.

IPTV is a medium of transmission like DTH or Cable while HDTV is a format.

One cannot say that IPTV is not as good as HDTV/1080i because IPTV will faithfully broadcast what it is fed. IPTV is also capable of HDTV. If the channel is HD, it will broadcast HD, if it is SD it will broadcast HD.

I am using Airtel Broswer 899rs 512kbps plan, and Dish TV DTH 330pm for Plat pack. I heard that the IPTV is available in my Area for 999rs pm. Should I switch my Airtel broadband to IPTV to get both as it will be a saving deal. What are the cons and pros for IPTV as compared to Dishtv and separate Airtel broadband.

    Thanks.

The main disadvantage of IPTV is that if the connection is down, you loose internet connectivity as well as TV. DTH connectivity is more reliable as it does not involve terristrial wiring network.

LOL. Who says so? Only the serial that started the trend, viz, KSBKBT, is over.
