Thats sick People call customer care when Airtel screws up but now Airtel will get paid for messing people around... So if Airtel sends you a wrong bill or charges you for something you have never bought and you call Airtel they will actually get paid for it..

It just cant get any more sick then this.

    Are you sure its true?

May be this is a case of yet another ignorant customer care executive. According to TRAI customer care and account balance checking should be free of cost. Did you got any message after finishing the call ? Did you checked the available balance ?

I read it in yesterday's paper Airtel has started started charging 50 paise for three minutes (i.e:for queries) and the complaint number 198 is toll free.So if you have a complaint, you would have to call 198 (toll free) instead of 121 (paid, for queries).

I am sorry, you got it wrong,I am being charged every time I call the Customer Care Executive.

Please understand IVR (Interactive Voice Response) is free, but if you want to speak to a Customer Care Executive, you will be charged Rs 0.50 paise for three minutes.

Please call 121,speak to the Customer Care Executive and see if your balance gets deducted.

If you think I am lying,I am not.

I think they have stopped paying salary to their customer care exe..
They will pay them depending upon the call they answer

So it is true that airtel is charging to call their customer service team! Big shame! The things that companies do to get more money from their customers, its not like they are giving really excellent rates in the first place anyway!

The best part is when I called 121 a few days ago,the IVR says that Airtel is offering calls to 121 free (queries),till May first week.It is really weird because,I was initially charged for the calls.

Calls to customer care should be toll free, also long calls with no resolutions waste a lot of time and money calling the cc.

Of course myself being an Idea user, when contacted cust care no one responded on this, but at the end of the call......its an automated teller informed abt this.......... how pity.....!!

not just idea, vodafone & airtel......as per trai directive...all operators can charge the customers for their qrs..........but they have to provide a toll-free number to address the complaints.....that number is "198" irrespective of operator & circle....

Where is this country going guys.....??
Now they are charging for contacting the customer care also......

Outside India, when someone buy a product, the main concern is the after sales service.... here we are now getting charged even to hear that stupid executive saying "Sorry, I can't help u....."..............

actually, this idea has been adopted from foreign countries......in europe, the operator can charge its customer for custmr care srvcs...........the indian counterparts have just adopted it.............yes obviously, the quality of service is a issue in india but outside,it is not.....
