Thread: Airtel network problem or mobile problem?

Hi all,

Hope you all are doing well.

I am facing a strange problem since yesterday. I have a Nokia N73 mobile and I use Airtel connection. 2 days before I changed the joystick for my mobile as it was giving me some problems. The repairing was successful and I was able to solve that problem.

But now I am acing a new problem. My mobile doesn't pick the network signal for all the time. I mean for some time there is full signal and sometime there is just a sign 3G at the upper left corner where we see the network tower. This is so damn weird. Most of the time there is the 3G sign. And I am getting frustrated because of this now.

I am not sure what problem is this? Is this a network problem? But I never had any issues like this in past and I haven't changed my area of living or anything. It's all the same.

Can someone please guide me what to do in this case? Thanks in advance!

Why not check with other Handset. To change the joystick the handset needs to be opened and while assembling it back, if care is not taken the internal antenna which is in central body is not perfectly aligned and this issues comes up. Get it checked. It also comes up if somebody has got his whole Mobile changed as local Mobile body is not at par and doesnt provides full signal.

3G comes up when there is no signal. This issue was very common with Airtel last december 2010 in whole Delhi As Airtel was upgrading to HSPA networks. But now its working fine. Go to repair shop and tell him the problem.

Thanks for this info. I din't know where the antenna stuff n all resides inside the circuit. But I guess, while assembling it back, that person has screwed up with my antenna somehow and thats why this issue is coming up since yesterday.

i am not very sure... but this is something like happened to my mobile too...

i gave my mobile because its keypad and body were both to be change.. so gave it to mechanic(localwala) who did the things ok.. but now i see only E written and no networks..(sometimes may even give sim card failed)...

give your phone to a good nokia centre... your phone is either not packed tightly or being tricked... or work done badly..

i couldn't fix my phone's power IC (also damaged ) but yours an expensive phone. so show it..

Yeah, that's right. I also gave my phone for repairing to a "local" mechanic [who sits in a medical shop]. Goodness me, I wonder what I was thinking at that time? Actually I was in a kind of hurry to get the things done. But that hurry had taught me a good lesson.

So, advice for all who are reading this: Never do your phone repairing from "local" mechanics [Specially, if they sit in a medical store ]. They can screw up with your mobile's network antenna, which in turn would screw your head's antenna.

Yep, lesson learnt. Always visit the official Nokia center for 'any' Nokia related issues. They are the best guys for this stuff.

yeah me too...

lesson learnt.. right now i cannot go anywhere.. as i am in some kind of a training going on.. but as soon as i get free i will send it to nokia centre even if they joke over its condition....

i have used that phone for all purposes that i use my lappy now.. always handy mobile


i can still crave on symbian even if android is cheap.. i know its not fashion of today and will go out of market in near times.. but i feel symbian is too easy and good..

actually the problem with such mechanics is basically, that they take out your mobile's expensive parts and ICs...

they send them to others (working as middleman) and you cannot know whats going on....

normal keypads and mobile covers thats all business with them for me..
