Aakash 2/ ubislate 7+ is good indian tablet
it have nice feature.
good day
Has anyone got one of these yet? I read about the price being three thousand something for the one with 3g sim card slot and wonder if its worth buying one.
Any idea if its got the same sort of screen like the one we have in a samsung galaxy s2?
At that price it will be difficult to incorporate super amoled glass as in case with SGS2.
Here is some info from Aakash Tablet ? $35 Indian Government Tablet:
All the students and other people who have been waiting excitingly to have the first touch of their dream tablet, Aakash, have to wait till next month. Those who are disappointed for Aakash being sold out still have a chance to pre-book UbiSlate, upgraded version of Aakash, through its official website at Rs 2,999 which is just Rs 499 more than the original version.
The upgraded version is powered by Android 2.3 and is more powerful than the original one. UbiSlate will have a a resistive touchscreen, Cortex A8-700 MHz processor and graphics accelerator HD video processor, 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB of internal memory. Other specifications are – one standard USB port, 3.5 mm audio jack, a 7 inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, resistive touchscreen, GPRS and WiFi support.
UbiSlate is more costly than Aakash, because along with the above specifications, the commercially available upgraded version will have a cellular modem which allows the tablet to deliver web access anywhere when there is a cellular connectivity, and also it will function as a mobile phone. Another important point to note about both the tablets is that internet access will be priced at Rs 99 for 2 GB.
The Salient Features of the Tablet:
Though the Aakash Tablet may not have a high speed processor or all the features required by the technical savvy, it is still a good device and an upgrade is expected soon.
- The tablet is the cheapest in the world
- The tablet can also be used as a mobile phone as it has facility for inserting SIM card and headphones
- The device is Wi-Fi and GPRS enabled
- It can also function as a 3G if dongle is enabled
- The formats supported by the image viewer are –JPG, PNG, GIF and BMP
- The audio formats the device supports are – WMA, AAC,MP3, WAV and AC3
- The tablet supports the following video formats – MPEG2, MPE4, FLV and AVI
- Document formats supported by the system are – DOCX, DOC, PPTX,PPT,XLSX,XLS,ODP and ODT
- The web browser is of standard compliance, JavaScript 1.8 complaint, xHTML 1.1 compliant
- It also has a Text editor and a PDF viewer
At Rs.3000 it would be a good buy with all the listed features. Some of the branded Digital photo frames rates are more than 3000. And if Ubi slate is not good enough it would be good choice as a portable media player atleast.
akash tablet is very chaep in compare to other tabs.
but the features are very less compare to other tabs. less processer and other things major thing is it have resistive touch screen that is big disadvantage .but in this cheap pric u can't except more than that.
Android 2.3 is a latest operating system which is used in akash 2 tablet. akash 2 is the cheapest lablets for the students.android system has very powerful system.
they are yet to set up production facilities in India. The actual sets are expected to be delivered to general buyers only by April.
April will be too late, already blackberry dropped its prices of Playbook and Ipad 3 is getting launched. By the time they actually start shipping and selling the Akash the hardware would be as good obsolete. But still good for low end users and people wanting to experience the tablet. Also Ice cream sandwich is coming out now so 2.3 OS would be pretty old by then.
i booked aakash for march,
It is cheapest & good configuration
you are comparing bullock cart to mercedez benz.
apart from a 7" ( or is it 10?) screen everything about akash is crap. Just chinese left over junk sold to Indian govt subsidised? or propagated scam so that some ministry get a fat commision.
I took my Nexus-s and compared it side by side with Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note. Note amoled screen was too good even though size initially looked too big as a phone.
Pending Galaxy Nexus launch and Icecream sandwich updates, right now Android 2.3.6 is the standard.
Akash is obsolete even now not next year.![]()

someone told me on a tech forum recently..
is it true? we can't download apps from android market on Aakash Tab?
as per reviews Aakash does NOT have Android Market.
android market is web site, then why we can't download from the site?
^^^
seems you do not have first hand experience of android systems
Well if you cant download applications on this tablet then what good is it? Yes the price is low but that doesnt mean that such basic minimum requirements be ignored... what would people use it for? Some pre built in crappy applications which would tell you that Delhi is the capital of India and a calculator perhaps? What else is there?
^^ no Aakash is very good (when its going to be upgraded with a 1gb ram) i heard it..
Sibbal ji (shri shri 500000) has unofficially was seen telling people about this advancement and talks with the makers..
