Can you suggest the so-called must have apps on an Android based phone and why?

I already have the following on my Samsung Galaxy SII:
    1. Facebook
    2. Acrobat Reader
    3. Flashlight
    4. Compass
    5. Mobo Player
    6. Barcode Reader
    7. Astro File manager
    8. NDTV
    9. ESPN Cricinfo
    10. LinkedIN
    11. Angry Birds Rio
    12. Wikipedia
    13. Easy Battery

It was always free from the beginning. And the link is for Talking Tom Cat 2.

The latest update skips the recording too much. If you say something long it will not repeat correctly.

Facebook: The worst App till date. Super slow in everything.

Camscanner On of the best app. point the camera towards a paper you want to scan and click and you get a very good quality pdf file to be sent as attachment. very handy personally i use a lot.

Gmail app. Good app for daily email needs.

Astro File manager is a good option in place of default gallery to browse through memory.

Google maps. Use it a lot. Satelite mode uses too much data and is slow on edge.

Ebuddy or imo : great all in one messenger

Facebook runs alright on my phone. Its either your phone's processor or your data connection or might be RAM. Upgrade to the newer version its even faster.

By slow i Meant its too buggy, the latest version is better, thanks for suggesting. Sometimes photos dont load or comments takes ages to load, even on wifi connection. same thing happens on my iPod Touch 4G also with Facebook App.

    Symbian forever because:-

    1. android updates every next week.
    2. no ota updates for android on official websites.
    3. updates available unofficially, prone to insecurity.

I use FB app to check statuses only and not much of updates. I still find typing on mobile via touchscreen difficult.

If you update from market only, you should be safe.

I have added Yahoo! apps (Yahoo!, Y-Messenger and Y-Mail) as apps. Then I have also added "Sketch n Draw", "Solitaire" and "Fruit Shoot.

I find Y-Mail interface much better than G-mail. Allows me clear "Trash" and "Spam" in one key stroke.

p/s. When admin enables "Talpatalk" on the forum, I will add it to my device.

    tapatalk is a great app.
those who travel frequently by Rail should have Indian Rail app installed. Really helpful with PNR status, train running status, seat availability and trains between stations.
those using delhi metro or visiting delhi and intending to use the metro can go for the delhi metro app. very effective for route information and fare information.
and for e-book buffs Aldiko is must.

    Cool Google Icecream sandwich

Got my Galaxy Nexus thro a dear freind..
A bit of a jump from from Nexus-s to get used to contols.
sleek (thinner than all previous) ,bigger screen ,curved corners easy to hold.
Auto brightness looked bit dull so increased the brightness a bit.

with a 3G sim downloaded all the essential apps ( mentioned few posts before)
But for the ICS I think Galaxy S2 is as good as Nexus.
Galaxy Note Amoled screen better than all.still yet to use all functions in G.Nexus.

    May be March.
But by the time they launch in India ,samsung would have already launched galaxy s3 may be in the same price range.
Then only who prefer Google branded phone (like Google Nexus One,Nexus-s,Galaxy nexus etc) will go for it.
other wise with latest icecream sandwich similar specs any phone will do.

Apart from the ones talked about in replies above I also have Moneycontrol, BBC, Bump, AVG antivirus, Skype and a few others.

@Just4kix Try star chart lite some time its free and its just amazing. I also use a Galaxy S2 and this is one application that was full paisa wasool for buying this phone Other phones dont run this application as well as sg2 does.

Star chart lite is not available in Android market you will need to download it from Samsung Apps.
