Android mobile (Samsung galaxy y) - wifi connects but no internet?

Hi,
I am using Samsung galaxy y android mobile phone, i hav a bsnl broadband ( wifi modem ), i have a laptop with which wifi works fine, but i face this problem in my mobile where wifi gets connected but i am not able to access internet. Whenever i connect to internet it says no connection available... Plz help me... I m not much into technology so plz help me out.....

Galaxy Y doesn't connect properly if you have spaces between your network name. Make sure your network name is one word only and then try it again.

I have a similar problem. My network name is a single word. It is unable to access internet.

my network name is also single word....
i faced the same problem when i made another galaxy y as wifi hotspot and connected my phone.. it gets connected but internet is not accessed... plz help...???????

Simple but easy suggestion make sure that your data connection is turned on and you have not just turned on your WiFi!

Check your APN settings.

How To Fix “Obtaining IP address” error on Android mobile phone

Few days back I flashed a new ROM in my Motorola Fire XT and everything gone fine except WiFi Connection. When I try to connect to my WiFi router it got struck at Obtaining Wi-Fi address and got disconnected. The process was

Obtaining IP Address
Disconnecting
Scanning

It was a strange thing for me but later I solved this problem successfully. Follow the steps given below carefully to fix that error.

This error is due to the WiFi router couldn’t assign the IP address for Android mobile or Android Tablet. To solve it, go to settings and select Wireless and Networks. Turn on the WiFi and enter into WI-Fi settings. After that Press the Menu button on your Android select Advanced option.

You will be carried to WiFi advanced Settings for Assigning Static IP Address, Gateway, Netmask and DNS. Pick the Static IP and assign the values given in the Screenshot.

Fix-Obtaining-IP-address-error-in-Android-phone-tablet-200x300 IP address: 192.168.1.107 > It is not compulsory to put 107 you can put values between 0 to 255 instead of 107. Make sure there shouldn’t be any IP address conflict when you put IP address.

Gateway : 192.168.1.1

Netmask : 255.255.255.0

DNS 1 : 8.8.8.8

DNS 2 : 8.8.8.4

It is recommended to use the Google DNS server given here or else you may use the DNS which is provided by your ISP.

This has happened to me before and it was because of a stupid reason which was an incorrect password, it is a simple thing which you dont actually realise, so do make sure you are entering in the correct password.
