Default 95% of sold android phones are Samsung phones

This is really a incredible news.
Samsung captured a staggering 95 percent of the $5.3 billion in Android smartphone profits in the first quarter of 2013, according to a new report from Strategy Analytics.
I remember saw the news somewhere that said Android owns 70.1% of smartphone market share. Then It now we can conclude that Samsung own more than 66.5% of smartphone market share.

I am soooo sorry that Profits is not equal to market share. It just said Samsung earn more money.

Nowadays Samsung still dominates the market. In the past it was an unknown company that was selling some mobile phones but when the smartphones and android appeared in the market they started doing some really innovative stuff and all you see now it's Samsungs everywhere!

I think what makes them different is their innovation and product varieties. There is something for everybody from high level to low level users. But I doubt their market share might have gone down drastically as there are a lot of competitors in the market. Companies like Micromax offers high-tech handsets at very cheap rates.

But there is nobody to beat the innovative products of Samsung. I heard that they are coming up with foldable phones very soon. That will be the next standard in Android market I think.

Samsung have no doubt become the market leader when it comes to android devices. Not only have they got the innovation, technology and devices that are better than their rivals, they've also got the money to advertise and market their devices more than any other company aswell.

For example HTC made the ONE, and it got voted the best smartphone of the year, a couple of years running, so you could say they are the nearest rivals to the android crown. Look at the size of the company though, while they might make handsets that on paper and in bench test rival Samsung, Samsung no doubt have the upper hand when it comes to resources and fan base.

Samsung are a very good and trusted manufacturer. It's taken them years to build up their brand but they've succeeded in getting into the minds and hearts of millions of consumers, worldwide. Just about everyone I know owns a Samsung product of some sort. The Samsung Galaxy phones are incredibly popular and people absolutely love them. It's not surprising that they've captured such a large chunk of the market.

It seems that Samsung are the brand that are pushing the android platform forward the most, and while other brands such as HTC and LG, to name others, also use the android OS, it seems that Samsung have captured the main portion of the market, and that is only going to increase I think.

The Samsung has one of the worst intarface (TouchWiz). It is slow, and crash a lot. Besides, all the Samsung phones has the same design, sometimes you cannot distinguish yours high-end from the others.

I've not verified the source of this information but I'd assume it's correct! Since the time touch-screen phones have become popular samsung has gained "not-ignoreable" position in the market. And they stood there very well. The unstated battle between Samsung and Nokia in India explains quite a bit about it...IMHO.

The durability of Samsung phones is unquestionable. My old Samsung phone with BADA OS has just completed its 7 years successfully. It is a touch phone with fully metallic body which prevents it from any damages. I has never shown any major issues during the past 7 years, but its screen's visibility already started diminishing these days. Even though it fell down a number of times, it never showed any issues and still now it is in working condition.

I think Nokia phones were also famous for durability when they were present in the market.

@Webworld, You're a lucky guy, because Samsung phones of my friends always broke the screen with a simple fall. I know, I have to consider how the cell is dropped.

I was a great fan of Samsung till I bought Lenovo mobile. In my opinion, Samsung is using the best touch-screen technology in industry and offers nice features. It's pricey compared to other mobiles. The only thing that made Samsung to lead the market is, it is first company to design a good OS based on Android. As everyone knows, no company sells the jail-break Android. Every company designs their own like Samsung's TouchWiz, Lenovo's Vibe etc.

Shourya119, what Samsung phone did you have? Samsung has good phones with high quality, but only the high end are interesting. The low-end phones too suffer from the TouchWiz.

I totally agree Samsung brand is very well put together. It is definitely accumulating; the new Samsung Edge is unbelievable awesome.

I wonder, where would Android be without Samsung?

I can not see the phones of Samsung as something desirable, because all the phones are piguais. Except for the EDGE series.

I totally agree that Samsung has become a synonym for Android in true sense. But the fact remains that Samsung is really struggling in the Android market now due to high competition from cheap models, especially Chinese mobiles. The give very good features at cheap rates than Samsung, then why should anybody buy Samsung. As nowadays online shopping is becoming more popular, we can see the full specifications/features of any phone on net.

I think to beat the competition, Samsung is now more focused on improving their own OS Tizen. I heard that they are ready with a number of new models which run on Tizen. Tizen has already won 4th position in the top 5 mobile OS. They just over took Blackberry in this. But if Samsung is out of Android market, it will definitely affect Android popularity too.

There are plenty of good alternatives to Samsung now. Google Nexus, Motorola, Oneplus and even HTC to name a few.

And I hear Micromax is doing well among the Indian phones. Wonder how Lava, Karbonn, Spice, iBall, Xolo, etc. are?

I just saw an Android operated Phone for the price of 25 US dollars. Yes I am not kidding, China had made phones and tablets that were that cheap. I think that is the reason why more Androids are sold as majority of them are cheap. There are also some expensive Android operated tablets that have better quality than Ios operated Iphones and Ipads. Android has something available for both the rich and the poor.

Yes you are right, the major advantage that Android have is the availability for every wallet, the poor one and the rich one. But I have no doubt that if you are paying a lot for an iPhone or iPad you are buying quality and official support plus good security regarding hacking and virus etc.

So, at the end is Android that wins beause paying 100USD for a phone/tablet is really good if you weight the disadvantages and advantages!

Wow, an Android phone for just 25 US dollars is really tempting. In fact the entry of Chinese mobiles put other Android phone manufacturers like Samsung, Sony, HTC etc in troubled water indeed. Chinese mobiles are ready to offer good features at very cheap rates which force other players to lower their rates too. It is even heard that new upcoming model of Samsung is going to be cheaper than its predecessor. It is a different game of price wars now.

But it is a relief that the final beneficiary would be the customers and that is quite good. Nowadays, if you are ready to wait patiently for a phone for sometime you can grab it at a great discount later.

An Ipad has the price of a car in my country. I will rather buy a car than an Ipad that will be obsolete in 2 years. I will rather buy a high quality Android phone or tablet. Yes there are bad quality ones but there are also great ones. The fact that a laptop is more affordable than an Ipad makes me regret buying an Ipad.

Yes, in India Samsung is the unquestionable leader in Android handset market as Nokia, Symbian king, has already lost their kingdom. What makes Samsung special is that it got a model for all budgets. Moreover, the touch screen is very good in most of the models which is highly responsive. No other company could beat Samsung in this till now. But competition is getting tougher day after. I don't know for how long Samsung will be able to hold this position. Chinese phones are there and they could be a hard nut to crack.

Samsung has also opened a large number of service centers across India with good facilities. It's quality of service, which cannot be replicated easily by competitors.

I understand now the love of Samsung for Indians. In Brazil, Samsung and Motorola share the leadership of mobile market. Motorola was successful with Moto G series. Moreover, Motorola has a low cost. And Samsung has the best display, but its phones are expensive.

But in relation for technical support, does Samsung offer a good service in India? Because in my country Samsung is second place in the rank of complaints.
