Google and Android are synonymous with each other and most of us believe that Google created Android. But actually it is not. Three persons behind the invention of this OS were Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White. They have strong ties with T-Mobile. So, it was T-Mobile who introduced the first Android phone to the world.

It was in 2005 that Google acquired Android Inc. Now Android controls over 85% of smartphone OS market.

Most banks now use Finacle as the main software. Its offered by Infosys. But it was originally developed by Corporation Bank and Infosys was only the implementation partner. Infosys offered to co-own and jointly market it. But someone in Corporation Bank decided that would be too risky and preferred to outright sell it. The rest is history.
Does not matter who invented it. What matters is who unlocked the true potential.

That's great to hear that Google didn't make Android OS for smartphones. I can't even think that T-Mobile guys can make such an amazing OS. Android phones are now the most used phones these days. Many people prefer using Android rather than iPhone or any other phones. Android offers much more functionality than other phones. The largest marketplace of Android, Google Play store is also most used these days. There are millions of free apps available for android on it. Making Android more successful OS for newbies as well as professionals.

Google owns Android right? They may not be the creators but they were the owners because the Playstore is called Google Playstore.

Yes, Google is the current owner of Android. Google already acquired Android Inc. in 2005. Even though Google is not the actual creator of Android, Google made Android the most popular mobile OS in the world. Google's efforts in this direction are really commendable who gave it the well known image of today's Android. I believe there is still a lot of untapped potential in Android and only Google would be able to explore it fully in coming days.

Google made Android a very popular OS through their user friendly and innovative approach.

The creators and people behind google right now are very innovative people, I always wondered if Google owned Android, or Android made a deal with google. I like when Google acquires something, they usually make it better, unlike when others such as Facebook acquire somethings, they change a lot things, for example Tumblr, when Facebook acquired it, it became tougher to use. I like and fully support Google

Android is a mobile operating system (OS) currently developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for touch screen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android's user interface is mainly based on direct manipulation, using touch gestures that loosely correspond to real-world actions, such as swiping, tapping and pinching, to manipulate on-screen objects, along with a virtual keyboard for text input. In addition to touch screen devices, Google has further developed Android TV for televisions, Android Auto for cars, and Android Wear for wrist watches, each with a specialized user interface. Variants of Android are also used on notebooks, game consoles, digital cameras, and other electronics. As of 2015, Android has the largest installed base of all operating systems. This is what I found and I think this will already will be a good info.
