NFC is known as near field communication and its used to comminicate with people around. I don't know properly what is it actually used for, and how is it used. In the recent times, companies have started dropping this function because of its rare use. OnePlus dropped NFC in their new smartphone known as the OnePlus two and that's probably because of its no use. I actually want to know how NFC works and how important is it for communication purpose?
NFC was a new thing to me until I read about it in a magazine. In fact NFC or Near Field Communication enables a two way communication at a very short distance, say a few centimeters. It is being used for contact-less payments systems. It can make payments by simply holding it against a MasterCard PayPass terminal.
In fact it doesn't make any sense with this technology when you have to keep it very near to the terminal. I admit that it is very convenient, but its success depends on the retailer and consumer adoption. If you see the merchants that allow Google Wallet NFC payments the numbers are very limited. So, it doesn't make any sense. May be because of the lack of acceptance, companies are not opting for NFC now.
NFC was pretty much solely developed for the cobtactless payment system that is becoming more and more popular these days, and the whole beauty of it is that it ONLY works up close to the terminal.
Just imagine if it didn't, you'd be walking past a row of tills, and paying for everybody else's shopping for a start!
NFC is an amazing technology. In my country(Brazil), we have already used to pay bills. Moreover, It is a safe manner to send data. In constrast, I cannot understand the why Apple does not include this technology in its Iphones.
